Inbound Tourism Expenditure
According to the Tourism Bureau's "2022 Estimation Model for Inbound Tourism Expenditure," spending by inbound visitors to Taiwan in 2022 totalled approximately US$1.781 billion, up 139.06% from 2021. COVID-19 was a major influence on these numbers.
Domestic Tourism Expenditure
According to the Tourism Bureau's "2022 Taiwan Tourism Survey Report," Taiwanese nationals aged 12 and above made approximately 169 million domestic trips in 2022. Average spending per person per trip was about US$77.78 in 2022, while average domestic trip length was 1.47 days. This travel generated expenditures of about US$13.11 billion, up 41.48% from 2021.
