A total of 710,933 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in May, 2025, up 129,185 or 22.21% from the 581,748 in May of last year. The arrivals included 552,481 foreign visitors and 158,452 Overseas Chinese. Compared with May of last year, the number of foreign visitors up by 91,477 or 19.84%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors up by 37,708 or 31.23%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 61,660 or 8.67% of the total, up 104.12%, consisting of 1,442 foreign visitors, up 40.68% and 60,218 Overseas Chinese, up 106.35%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 104,775 or 14.74% of the total, up 11.34%, consisting of 7,669 foreign visitors, up 96.59%, and 97,106 Overseas Chinese, up 7.65%.
   3. Japan accounted for 125,505 or 17.65% of the total, up 27.83%, consisting of 125,415 foreign visitors, up 27.87%, and 90 Overseas Chinese, decline 10.89%.
   4. Korea, 90,394 or 12.71% of the total, up 26.89%, consisting of 90,252 foreign visitors, up 27.00%, and 142 Overseas Chinese, decline 18.39%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 210,356 or 29.59% of the total, up 11.67%, consisting of 210,042 foreign visitors, up 11.72%, and 314 Overseas Chinese, decline 17.37%.
   6. U.S.A., 53,495 or 7.52% of the total, up 14.19%, consisting of 53,069 foreign visitors, up 14.46%, and 426 Overseas Chinese, decline 12.35%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 10,021 or 1.41% of the total, up 34.49%, consisting of 9,999 foreign visitors, up 34.68%, and 22 Overseas Chinese, decline 18.52%.
   8. Europe, 30,892 or 4.35% of the total, up 28.72%, consisting of 30,860 foreign visitors, up 28.81%, and 32 Overseas Chinese, decline 23.81%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 23,835 or 3.35% of the total, up 11.73%, consisting of 23,733 foreign visitors, up 12.03%, and 102 Overseas Chinese, decline 31.08%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 125,128 visitors from Japan accounting for 17.60% of the total. This was up 26,807 or 27.26%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 91,082 visitors from Korea accounting for 12.81% of the total. This was up 19,602, or 27.42%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 210,454 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 29.60% of the total. This was up 22,710 or 12.10%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 54,399 visitors from U.S.A. accounting for 7.65% of the total. This was up 7,199 or 15.25%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 10,910 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 1.53% of the total. This was up 2,708, or 33.02%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 36,704 visitors from Europe accounting for 5.16% of the total. This was up 7,745, or 26.74%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.18% (8,373 people), 0.83% (5,886 people), and 0.71% (5,034 people) of the total which were up 21.45%, up 21.59% ,and up 13.40% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 23,804 or 3.35%, up 4,706 or 24.64%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 158,452 or 22.29% up 37,708 or 31.23%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 97,106 or 61.28%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 710,933 visitors, 92.85% by air of whom 660,115. 541,565 visitors or 76.18% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 58,278 visitors or 8.20% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 7.15% by sea of whom 50,818. 1,202 visitors or 0.17% through Kaohsiung port, 21,708 visitors or 3.05% through Keelung, 972 visitors or 0.14% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 48.06% (341,694 people) while female were 51.94% (369,239 people).
   3. Age: There were 50,236 (7.07%) visitors under 19-year-old, 324,020 (45.58%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 226,515 (31.86%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 110,162 (15.50%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 483,587 (68.02%), 32,747 (4.61%), and 26,983 (3.80%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 156,456 people or 21.91%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 118,009 people or 16.53%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 106,273 people or 14.88%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in May was 6.88 nights.
