A total of 903,619 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in December, 2024, up 88,854 or 10.91% from the 814,765 in December of last year. The arrivals included 700,295 foreign visitors and 203,324 Overseas Chinese. Compared with December of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 60,160 or 9.40%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors up by 28,694 or 16.43%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 60,713 or 6.72% of the total, up 87.05%, consisting of 948 foreign visitors, up 4.06% and 59,765 Overseas Chinese, up 89.44%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 147,879 or 16.37% of the total, decline 0.53%, consisting of 6,329 foreign visitors, decline 22.18%, and 141,550 Overseas Chinese, up 0.72%.
   3. Japan accounted for 152,820 or 16.91% of the total, up 24.34%, consisting of 152,690 foreign visitors, up 24.40%, and 130 Overseas Chinese, decline 18.24%.
   4. Korea, 123,450 or 13.66% of the total, up 17.77%, consisting of 123,319 foreign visitors, up 17.85%, and 131 Overseas Chinese, decline 29.95%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 261,869 or 28.98% of the total, decline 4.06%, consisting of 261,415 foreign visitors, decline 4.02%, and 454 Overseas Chinese, decline 24.33%.
   6. U.S.A., 77,044 or 8.53% of the total, up 15.05%, consisting of 76,207 foreign visitors, up 15.47%, and 837 Overseas Chinese, decline 13.44%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 18,327 or 2.03% of the total, up 6.53%, consisting of 18,221 foreign visitors, up 6.76%, and 106 Overseas Chinese, decline 22.63%.
   8. Europe, 29,127 or 3.22% of the total, up 4.84%, consisting of 29,039 foreign visitors, up 4.94%, and 88 Overseas Chinese, decline 20.00%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 32,390 or 3.58% of the total, up 54.27%, consisting of 32,127 foreign visitors, up 55.87%, and 263 Overseas Chinese, decline 31.51%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 152,108 visitors from Japan accounting for 16.83% of the total. This was up 29,868 or 24.43%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 124,944 visitors from Korea accounting for 13.83% of the total. This was up 19,728, or 18.75%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 263,848 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 29.20% of the total. This was decline 8,473 or 3.11%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 78,889 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.73% of the total. This was up 10,905 or 16.04%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 19,841 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 2.20% of the total. This was up 1,553 or 8.49%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 36,403 visitors from Europe accounting for 4.03% of the total. This was up 2,761 or 8.21%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 0.98% (8,874 people), 0.63% (5,713 people), and 0.53% (4,750 people) of the total which were up 10.06%, decline 12.38%, and up 1.95% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 24,262 or 2.68%, up 3,818 or 18.68%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 203,324 or 22.50%, up 28,694 or 16.43%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 141,550 or 69.61%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 903,619 visitors, 94.72% by air of whom 855,931. 710,706 visitors or 78.65% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 73,654 visitors or 8.15% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 5.28% by sea of whom 47,688. 2,883 visitors or 0.32% through Kaohsiung port, 19,987 visitors or 2.21% through Keelung, 525 visitors or 0.06% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 47.60% (430,138 people) while female were 52.40% (473,481 people).
   3. Age: There were 126,970 (14.05%) visitors under 19-year-old, 368,903 (40.83%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 284,132 (31.44%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 123,614 (13.68%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 686,001 (75.92%), 40,291 (4.46%), and 40,905 (4.53%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 188,797 people or 21.96%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 157,797 people or 18.36%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 125,896 people or 14.64%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in December was 6.60 nights.
