A total of 661,115 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in October, 2024, up 39,466 or 6.35% from the 621,649 in October of last year. The arrivals included 537,052 foreign visitors and 124,063 Overseas Chinese. Compared with October of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 30,792 or 6.08%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors up by 8,674 or 7.52%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 35,441 or 5.36% of the total, up 53.29%, consisting of 935 foreign visitors, decline 4.00% and 34,506 Overseas Chinese, up 55.81%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 93,286 or 14.11% of the total, decline 4.27%, consisting of 4,925 foreign visitors, decline 13.69%, and 88,361 Overseas Chinese, decline 3.69%.
   3. Japan accounted for 116,692 or 17.65% of the total, up 19.64%, consisting of 116,592 foreign visitors, up 19.68%, and 100 Overseas Chinese, decline 12.28%.
   4. Korea, 83,668 or 12.66% of the total, up 11.48%, consisting of 83,546 foreign visitors, up 11.56%, and 122 Overseas Chinese, decline 27.38%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 203,016 or 30.71% of the total, decline 5.68%, consisting of 202,650 foreign visitors, decline 5.63%, and 366 Overseas Chinese, decline 26.80%.
   6. U.S.A., 52,822 or 7.99% of the total, up 6.82%, consisting of 52,458 foreign visitors, up 6.99%, and 364 Overseas Chinese, decline 12.50%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 12,937 or 1.96% of the total, up 26.13%, consisting of 12,912 foreign visitors, up 26.33%, and 25 Overseas Chinese, decline 30.56%.
   8. Europe, 33,996 or 5.14% of the total, up 6.43%, consisting of 33,942 foreign visitors, up 6.53%, and 54 Overseas Chinese, decline 31.65%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 29,257 or 4.43% of the total, up 35.46%, consisting of 29,092 foreign visitors, up 35.86%, and 165 Overseas Chinese, decline 10.81%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 116,853 visitors from Japan accounting for 17.68% of the total. This was up 19,361 or 19.86%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 84,871 visitors from Korea accounting for 12.84% of the total. This was up 9,373, or 12.41%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 202,600 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 30.65% of the total. This was decline 10,838 or 5.08%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 54,292 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.21% of the total. This was up 4,056 or 8.07%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 13,882 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 2.10% of the total. This was up 2,674 or 23.86%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 40,424 visitors from Europe accounting for 6.11% of the total. This was up 3,155 or 8.47%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.44% (9,521 people), 1.11% (7,334 people), and 0.92% (6,065 people) of the total which were up 4.21%, up 10.95%, and up 16.88% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 24,130 or 3.65%, up 3,011 or 14.26%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 124,063 or 18.77%, up 8,674 or 7.52%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 88,361 or 71.22%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 661,115 visitors, 95.86% by air of whom 633,734. 529,809 visitors or 80.14% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 46,399 visitors or 7.02% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 4.14% by sea of whom 27,381. 4,328 visitors or 0.65% through Kaohsiung port, 13,849 visitors or 2.09% through Keelung, 547 visitors or 0.08% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 49.06% (324,367 people) while female were 50.94% (336,748 people).
   3. Age: There were 50,864 (7.69%) visitors under 19-year-old, 294,418 (44.53%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 208,001 (31.46%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 107,832 (16.31%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 455,413 (68.89%), 46,847 (7.09%), and 25,275 (3.82%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 157,552 people or 24.89%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 105,535 people or 16.67%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 92,166 people or 14.56%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in October was 6.57 nights.
