A total of 575,455 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in September, 2024, up 36,797 or 6.83% from the 538,658 in September of last year. The arrivals included 458,698 foreign visitors and 116,757 Overseas Chinese. Compared with September of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 38,036 or 9.04%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors decline by 1,239 or 1.05%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 32,040 or 5.57% of the total, up 39.60%, consisting of 858 foreign visitors, decline 4.13% and 31,182 Overseas Chinese, up 41.37%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 88,230 or 15.33% of the total, decline 11.00%, consisting of 3,925 foreign visitors, decline 18.21%, and 84,305 Overseas Chinese, decline 10.63%.
   3. Japan accounted for 109,795 or 19.08% of the total, up 15.94%, consisting of 109,697 foreign visitors, up 16.00%, and 98 Overseas Chinese, decline 25.19%.
   4. Korea, 75,062 or 13.04% of the total, up 11.24%, consisting of 74,846 foreign visitors, up 11.32%, and 216 Overseas Chinese, decline 11.11%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 168,092 or 29.21% of the total, up 0.61%, consisting of 167,733 foreign visitors, up 0.65%, and 359 Overseas Chinese, decline 16.90%.
   6. U.S.A., 39,185 or 6.81% of the total, up 7.31%, consisting of 38,852 foreign visitors, up 7.59%, and 333 Overseas Chinese, decline 17.98%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 11,864 or 2.06% of the total, up 23.65%, consisting of 11,820 foreign visitors, up 23.98%, and 44 Overseas Chinese, decline 27.87%.
   8. Europe, 26,589 or 4.62% of the total, up 12.95%, consisting of 26,541 foreign visitors, up 13.15%, and 48 Overseas Chinese, decline 42.17%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 24,598 or 4.27% of the total, up 39.19%, consisting of 24,426 foreign visitors, up 40.19%, and 172 Overseas Chinese, decline 30.65%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 109,780 visitors from Japan accounting for 19.08% of the total. This was up 15,171 or 16.04%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 75,658 visitors from Korea accounting for 13.15% of the total. This was up 8,209, or 12.17%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 168,798 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 29.33% of the total. This was up 2,163 or 1.30%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 40,067 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 6.96% of the total. This was up 3,259 or 8.85%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 12,453 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 2.16% of the total. This was up 2,143 or 20.79%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 31,476 visitors from Europe accounting for 5.47% of the total. This was up 3,957 or 14.38%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.20% (6,919 people), 1.01% (5,802 people), and 0.76% (4,349 people) of the total which were up 4.71%, up 15.60%, and up 19.31% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 20,466 or 3.56%, up 3,134 or 18.08%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 116,757 or 20.29%, decline 1,239 or 1.05%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 84,305 or 72.21%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 575,455 visitors, 98.27% by air of whom 565,497. 464,781 visitors or 80.77% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 48,202 visitors or 8.38% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 1.73% by sea of whom 9,958. 1,200 visitors or 0.21% through Kaohsiung port, 4,368 visitors or 0.76% through Keelung, 599 visitors or 0.10% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 49.21% (283,166 people) while female were 50.79% (292,289 people).
   3. Age: There were 36,941 (6.42%) visitors under 19-year-old, 286,658 (49.81%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 176,993 (30.76%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 74,863 (13.01%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 368,986 (64.12%), 48,608 (8.45%), and 23,044 (4.00%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 126,017 people or 23.87%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 2 nights, 83,361 people or 15.79%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 5-7 nights, 80,239 people or 15.20%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in September was 6.69 nights.
