A total of 610,146 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in April, 2024, increasing 56,935 or 10.29% from the 553,211 in April of last year. The arrivals included 495,911 foreign visitors and 114,235 Overseas Chinese. Compared with April of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 62,121 or 14.32%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors decline by 5,186 or -4.34%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 28,269 or 4.63% of the total, up 89.17%, consisting of 978 foreign visitors, up 5.05%and 27,291 Overseas Chinese, up 94.75%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 90,075 or 14.76% of the total, decline 18.87%, consisting of 4,569 foreign visitors, decline 37.62%, and 85,505 Overseas Chinese, decline 17.54%.
   3. Japan accounted for 86,587 or 14.19% of the total, up 66.99%, consisting of 86,482 foreign visitors, up 67.24%, and 105 Overseas Chinese, decline 25.00%.
   4. Korea, 68,822 or 11.28% of the total, up 16.75%, consisting of 68,667 foreign visitors, up 16.81%, and 155 Overseas Chinese, decline 7.19%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 216,853 or 35.54% of the total, decline 0.04%, consisting of 216,378 foreign visitors, decline 0.02%, and 475 Overseas Chinese, decline 10.88%.
   6. U.S.A., 51,973 or 8.52% of the total, up 23.59%, consisting of 51,545 foreign visitors, up 24.04%, and 428 Overseas Chinese, decline 14.23%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 13,255 or 2.17% of the total, up  35.32%, consisting of 13,221 foreign visitors, up 36.09%, and 34 Overseas Chinese, decline 57.50%.
   8. Europe, 32,730 or 5.36% of the total, up 3.76%, consisting of 32,676 foreign visitors, up 3.85%, and 54 Overseas Chinese, decline 32.5%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 21,582 or 3.54% of the total, up 33.99%, consisting of 21,395 foreign visitors, up 34.60%, and 187 Overseas Chinese, decline 11.79%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 86,431 visitors from Japan accounting for 14.17% of the total. This was up 34,575 or 66.68%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 69,277 visitors from Korea accounting for 11.35% of the total. This was up 10,089, or 17.05%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 215,989 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 35.40% of the total. This was up 1,010 or 0.47%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 52,398 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.59% of the total. This was up 9,227 or 21.37%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 13,965 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 2.29% of the total. This was up 3,099, or 28.52%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 37,549 visitors from Europe accounting for 6.15% of the total. This was up 1,129, or 3.10%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.41% (8,581 people), 1.30% (7,929 people), and 0.94% (5,736 people) of the total which were decline 5.06%, decline 18.63%, and up 27.52% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 20,302 or 3.33%, up 2,992 or 17.28%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 114,235 or 18.72%, decline 5,186 or 4.34%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 85,506 or 74.85%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 610,146 visitors, 97.27% by air of whom 593,463. 496,492 visitors or 81.37% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 45,150 visitors or 7.40% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 2.73% by sea of whom 16,683. 898 visitors or 0.15% through Kaohsiung port, 11,464 visitors or 1.88% through Keelung, 563 visitors or 0.09% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 48.07% (293,282 people) while female were 51.93% (316,864 people).
   3. Age: There were 44,758 (7.34%) visitors under 19-year-old, 258,428 (42.36%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 198,997 (32.61%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 107,963 (17.69%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 420,952 (68.99%), 39,817 (6.53%), and 26,558 (4.35%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 133,180 people or 20.94%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 127,363 people or 20.03%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 100,195 people or 15.76%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in April was 7.11 nights.
