A total of 811,608 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in March, 2024, increasing 325,437 or 66.94% from the 486,171 in March of last year. The arrivals included 654,237 foreign visitors and 157,371 Overseas Chinese. Compared with March of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 246,248 or 60.36%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 79,189 or 101.29%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 30,219 or 3.72% of the total, up 179.81%, consisting of 927 foreign visitors, up 56.59%and 29,292 Overseas Chinese, up 186.95%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 133,591or 16.46% of the total, up 86.98%, consisting of 7,044 foreign visitors, up 38.96%, and 126,547 Overseas Chinese, up 90.65%.
   3. Japan accounted for 151,756 or 18.70% of the total, up 140.82%, consisting of 151,620 foreign visitors, up 141.07%, and 136 Overseas Chinese, up 11.48%.
   4. Korea, 93,556 or 11.53% of the total, up 78.88%, consisting of 93,412 foreign visitors, up 79.09%, and 144 Overseas Chinese, up 2.13%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 250,900 or 30.91% of the total, up 27.71%, consisting of 250,422 foreign visitors, up 27.75%, and 478 Overseas Chinese, up 9.63%.
   6. U.S.A., 64,704 or 7.97% of the total, up 60.10%, consisting of 64,273 foreign visitors, up 60.95%, and 431 Overseas Chinese, decline 10.40%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 12,660 or 1.56% of the total, up78.84%, consisting of 12,626 foreign visitors, up 80.17%, and 34 Overseas Chinese, decline 52.11%.
   8. Europe, 47,368 or 5.84% of the total, up 68.97%, consisting of 47,277 foreign visitors, up 69.16%, and 91 Overseas Chinese, up 7.06%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 26,854 or 3.31% of the total, up 61.62%, consisting of 26,636 foreign visitors, up 62.86%, and 218 Overseas Chinese, decline 16.48%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 151,323 visitors from Japan accounting for 18.64% of the total. This was up 88,467 or 140.75%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 93,970 visitors from Korea accounting for 11.58% of the total. This was up 41,673, or 79.69%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 249,715 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 30.77% of the total. This was up 54,788 or 28.11%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 66,013 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.13% of the total. This was up 25,099 or 61.35%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 13,769 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 1.70% of the total. This was up 6,043, or 78.22%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 53,365 visitors from Europe accounting for 6.58% of the total. This was up 21,747, or 68.78%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.46% (11,839 people), 1.98% (16,080 people), and 0.69% (5,627 people) of the total which were up 63.61%, up 165.92%, and up 32.96% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 26,082 or 3.21%, up 8,431 or 47.76%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 157,371 or 19.39%, up 79,189 or 101.29%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 126,547 or 80.41%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 811,608 visitors, 95.94% by air of whom 778,632. 657,275 visitors or 80.98% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 56,823 visitors or 7.00% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 4.06% by sea of whom 32,976. 2,664 visitors or 0.33% through Kaohsiung port, 23,751 visitors or 2.93% through Keelung, 536 visitors or 0.07% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 47.23% (383,322 people) while female were 52.77% (428,286 people).
   3. Age: There were 70,966 (8.74%) visitors under 19-year-old, 332,819 (41.01%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 255,621 (31.50%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 152,202 (18.75%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 578,851 (71.32%), 51,189 (6.31%), and 31,173 (3.84%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 197,089 people or 25.35%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 143,691 people or 18.49%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 114,183 people or 14.69%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in March was 6.30 nights.
