A total of 621,649 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in October, 2023, increasing 528,443 or 566.96% from the 93,206 in October of last year. The arrivals included 506,260 foreign visitors and 115,389 Overseas Chinese. Compared with October of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 419,257 or 481.89%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 109,186 or 1760.21%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 23,120 or 3.72% of the total, up 839.46%, consisting of 974 foreign visitors, up 5311.11% and 22,146 Overseas Chinese, up 806.51%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 97,451 or 15.68% of the total, up 2996.63%, consisting of 5,706 foreign visitors, up 1111.46%, and 91,745 Overseas Chinese, up 3328.44%.
   3. Japan accounted for 97,534 or 15.69% of the total, up 913.34%, consisting of 97,420 foreign visitors, up 919.68%, and 114 Overseas Chinese, up 60.56%.
   4. Korea, 75,054 or 12.07% of the total, up 1442.10%, consisting of 74,886 foreign visitors, up 1457.53%, and 168 Overseas Chinese, up 184.75%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 215,245 or 34.62% of the total, up 346.75%, consisting of 214,745 foreign visitors, up 348.74%, and 500 Overseas Chinese, up 53.85%.
   6. U.S.A., 49,449 or 7.95% of the total, up 377.26%, consisting of 49,033 foreign visitors, up 388.67%, and 416 Overseas Chinese, up 27.22%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 10,257 or 1.65% of the total, up 550.82%, consisting of 10,221 foreign visitors, up 573.32%, and 36 Overseas Chinese, decline 37.93%.
   8. Europe, 31,941 or 5.14% of the total, up 299.66%, consisting of 31,862 foreign visitors, up 303.37%, and 79 Overseas Chinese, decline 15.05%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 21,598 or 3.47% of the total, up 332.22%, consisting of 21,413 foreign visitors, up 341.87%, and 185 Overseas Chinese, up 22.52%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 97,492 visitors from Japan accounting for 15.68% of the total. This was up 87,915 or 917.98%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 75,498 visitors from Korea accounting for 12.14% of the total. This was up 70,657 or 1459.55%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 213,438 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 34.33% of the total. This was up 165,714 or 347.23%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 50,236 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.08% of the total. This was up 40,128 or 396.99%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 11,208 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 1.80% of the total. This was up 9,613 or 602.70%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 37,269 visitors from Europe accounting for 6.00% of the total. This was up 28,939, or 347.41%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.47% (9,136 people), 1.06% (6,610 people), and 0.83% (5,189 people) of the total which were up 395.18%, up 418.84%, and up 365.38% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 21,119 or 3.40%, up 16,291 or 337.43%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 115,389 or 18.56%, up 109,186 or 1760.21%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 91,745 or 79.51% of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 621,649 visitors, 97.44% by air of whom 605,706. 514,013 visitors or 82.69% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 38,158 visitors or 6.14% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 2.56% by sea of whom 15,943. 1,238 visitors or 0.20% through Kaohsiung port, 9,192 visitors or 1.48% through Keelung, 447 visitors or 0.07% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 48.54% (301,747 people) while female were 51.46% (319,902 people).
   3. Age: There were 39,234 (6.31%) visitors under 19-year-old, 265,199 (42.66%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 201,488 (32.41%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 115,728 (18.62%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 428,259 (68.89%), 44,085 (7.09%), and 26,180 (4.21%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 152,448 people or 24.78%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors stayed 5-7 nights, 115,892 people or 18.84%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 97,266 people or 15.81%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in October was 6.58 nights.
