      A total of 553,211 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in April, 2023, increasing 523,451 or 1758.91% from the 29,760 in April of last year. The arrivals included 433,790 foreign visitors and 119,421 Overseas Chinese. Compared with April of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 405,705 or 1444.56%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 117,746 or 7029.61%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 14,944 or 2.70% of the total, up 1856.02%, consisting of 931 foreign visitors, up 93000.00% and 14,013 Overseas Chinese, up 1736.57%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 111,021 or 20.07% of the total, up 22557.35%, consisting of 7,324 foreign visitors, up 31743.48%, and 103,697 Overseas Chinese, up 22104.93%.
   3. Japan accounted for 51,851 or 9.37% of the total, up 2849.43%, consisting of 51,711 foreign visitors, up 2866.78%, and 140 Overseas Chinese, up 833.33%.
   4. Korea, 58,950 or 10.66% of the total, up 13237.10%, consisting of 58,783 foreign visitors, up 13,796.69%, and 167 Overseas Chinese, up 778.95%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 216,944 or 39.22% of the total, up 905.39%, consisting of 216,411 foreign visitors, up 907.36%, and 533 Overseas Chinese, up 461.05%.
   6. U.S.A., 42,054 or 7.60% of the total, up 3381.29%, consisting of 41,555 foreign visitors, up 3891.83%, and 499 Overseas Chinese, up 198.80%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 9,795or 1.77% of the total, up 5223.37%, consisting of 9,715 foreign visitors, up 6790.07%, and 80 Overseas Chinese, up 86.05%.
   8. Europe, 31,545 or 5.70% of the total, up 1275.71%, consisting of 31,465 foreign visitors, up 1298.44%, and 80 Overseas Chinese, up 86.05%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 16,107 or 2.91% of the total, up 1444.30%, consisting of 15,895 foreign visitors, up 1521.94%, and 212 Overseas Chinese, up 236.51%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 51,856 visitors from Japan accounting for 9.37% of the total. This was up 50,114 or 2876.81%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 59,188 visitors from Korea accounting for 10.70% of the total. This was up 58,765, or 13892.43%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 214,979 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 38.86% of the total. This was up 193,504 or 901.07%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 43,171 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 7.80% of the total. This was up 42,128 or 4039.12%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 10,866 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 1.96% of the total. This was up 10,721, or 7393.79%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 36,420 visitors from Europe accounting for 6.58% of the total. This was up 34,149, or 1503.70%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.63% (9,038 people), 1.76% (9,744 people), and 0.81% (4,498 people) of the total which were up 1482.84%, up 4329.09%, and up 2980.82% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 17,310 or 3.13%, up 16,324 or 1655.58%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 119,421 or 21.59%, up 117,746 or 7029.61%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 103,697 or 86.83%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 553,211 visitors, 96.49% by air of whom 533,813. 453,002 visitors or 81.89% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 42,594 visitors or 7.70% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 3.51% by sea of whom 19,398. 6,335 visitors or 1.15% through Kaohsiung port, 7,036 visitors or 1.27% through Keelung, 389 visitors or 0.07% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 48.08% (265,993 people) while female were 51.92% (287,218 people).
   3. Age: There were 48,855 (8.83%) visitors under 19-year-old, 230,037 (41.58%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 179,883 (32.52%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 94,436 (17.07%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 380,721 (68.82%), 34,038 (6.15%), and 30,418 (5.50%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 114,669 people or 22.23%, stayed 5-7 nights. Visitors staying 3 nights, 95,574 people or 18.53%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 81,369 people or 15.78%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in April was 7.56 nights.
