        A total of 486,171 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in March, 2023, increasing 466,135 or 2326.49% from the 20,036 in March of last year. The arrivals included 407,989foreign visitors and 78,182 Overseas Chinese. Compared with March of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 390,163 or 2188.73%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 75,972 or 3437.65%.

1. Main markets by residence

   1. Mainland China accounted for 10,800 or 2.22% of the total, up 813.71%, consisting of 592 foreign visitors, up 59100.00% and 10,208 Overseas Chinese, up 764.35%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 71,446 or 14.70% of the total, up 10092.01%, consisting of 5,069 foreign visitors, up 16796.67%, and 66,377 Overseas Chinese, up 9792.25%.
   3. Japan accounted for 63,017 or 12.96% of the total, up 4819.36%, consisting of 62,895 foreign visitors, up 4879.81%, and 122 Overseas Chinese, up 577.78%.
   4. Korea, 52,300 or 10.76% of the total, up 12781.77%, consisting of 52,159 foreign visitors, up 13,038.29%, and 141 Overseas Chinese, up 1466.67%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 196,466 or 40.41% of the total, up 1509.72%, consisting of 196,030 foreign visitors, up 1515.28%, and 436 Overseas Chinese, up 531.88%.
   6. U.S.A., 40,414 or 8.31% of the total, up 3921.29%, consisting of 39,933 foreign visitors, up 4625.80%, and 481 Overseas Chinese, up 200.63%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 7,079or 1.46% of the total, up 5608.87%, consisting of 7,008 foreign visitors, up 6638.46%, and 71 Overseas Chinese, up 255.00%.
   8. Europe, 28,033 or 5.77% of the total, up 1375.42%, consisting of 27,948 foreign visitors, up 1399.36%, and 85 Overseas Chinese, up 136.11%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 16,616 or 3.42% of the total, up 1248.70%, consisting of 16,355 foreign visitors, up 1279.01%, and 261 Overseas Chinese, up 467.39%.

2. Main markets by country of nationality

   1. There were 62,856 visitors from Japan accounting for 12.93% of the total. This was up 61,594 or 4880.67%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 52,297 visitors from Korea accounting for 10.76% of the total. This was up 51,897, or 12974.25%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 194,927 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 40.09% of the total. This was up 182,794 or 1506.59%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 40,914 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.42% of the total. This was up 40,062 or 4702.11%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 7,726 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 1.59% of the total. This was up 7,621, or 7258.10%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 31,618 visitors from Europe accounting for 6.50% of the total. This was up 29,741, or 1584.50%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.49% (7,236 people), 1.24% (6,047 people), and 0.87% (4,232 people) of the total which were up 1639.42%, up 3017.01%, and up 2721.33% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 17,651 or 3.63%, up 16,454 or 1374.60%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 78,182 or 16.08%, up 75,972 or 3437.65%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 66,377 or 84.90%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.

3.  Main markets by type of visitor

   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 486,171 visitors, 98.11% by air of whom 476,970. 405,826 visitors or 83.47% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 31,866 visitors or 6.55% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 1.89% by sea of whom 9,201. 4,609 visitors or 0.95% through Kaohsiung port, 3,352 visitors or 0.69% through Keelung, 383 visitors or 0.08% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 49.79% (242,079 people) while female were 50.21% (244,092 people).
   3. Age: There were 32,636 (6.71%) visitors under 19-year-old, 209,555 (43.10%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 160,493 (33.01%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 83,487 (17.17%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 312,479 (64.27%), 45,067 (9.27%), and 29,601 (6.09%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 98,205 people or 21.13%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 91,519 people or 19.69%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 4 nights, 70,913 people or 15.26%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in March was 7.43 nights.
