A total of 69,299 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in August, 2022, increasing 61,339 or 770.59% from the 7,960 in August of last year. The arrivals included 62,690 foreign visitors and 6,609 Overseas Chinese. Compared with August of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 57,052 or 1,011.92%, and the number of Overseas Chinese  increased by 4,287 or 184.63%.
 

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 2,305 or 3.33% of the total, up 100.96%, consisting of 3 foreign visitors, up 0%, and 2,302 Overseas Chinese, up 100.70%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 3,220 or 4.65% of the total, up 252.68%, consisting of 48 foreign visitors, up 0%, and 3,172 Overseas Chinese, up 247.43%.
   3. Japan accounted for 5,635 or 8.13% of the total, up 477.36%, consisting of 5,560 foreign visitors, up 480.38%, and 75 Overseas Chinese, up 316.67%.
   4. Korea, 1,598 or 2.31% of the total, up 429.14%, consisting of 1,544 foreign visitors, up 463.50%, and 54 Overseas Chinese, up 92.86%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 38,565 or 55.65% of the total, up 3,063.66%, consisting of 38,323 foreign visitors, up 3,101.59%, and 242 Overseas Chinese, up 1,000.00%.
   6. U.S.A., 4,528 or 6.53% of the total, up 336.22%, consisting of 4,051 foreign visitors, up 341.29%, and 477 Overseas Chinese, up 297.50%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 429 or 0.62% of the total, up 875.00%, consisting of 375 foreign visitors, up 814.63%, and 54 Overseas Chinese, up 1,700.00%.
   8. Europe, 6,337 or 9.14% of the total, up 290.69%, consisting of 6,230 foreign visitors, up 291.33%, and 107 Overseas Chinese, up 256.67%
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 6,682 or 9.64% of the total, up 855.94%, consisting of 6,556 foreign visitors, up 896.35%, and 126 Overseas Chinese, up 207.32%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 5,753 visitors from Japan accounting for 8.30% of the total. This was up 4,795 or 500.52%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 1,621 visitors from Korea accounting for 2.34% of the total. This was up 1,346, or 489.45%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 40,799 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 58.87% of the total. This was up 39,567 or 3,211.61%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 4,177 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 6.03% of the total. This was up 3,260 or 355.51%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 391 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 0.56% of the total. This was up 350, or 853.66%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 6,448 visitors from Europe accounting for 9.30% of the total. This was up 4,856, or 305.03%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.94% (1,343 people), 1.41% (976 people), and 1.25% (869 people) of the total which were up 486.46%, up 460.92%, and up 359.79% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 3,501 or 5.05%, up 2,878 or 461.96%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 6,609 or 9.54%, up 4,287 or 184.64%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 3,172 or 48.00%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 69,299 visitors, 97.74% by air of whom 67,732. 63,771 visitors or 92.02% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 1,001 visitors or 1.44% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 2.26% by sea of whom 1,567. 352 visitors or 0.51% through Kaohsiung port, 5 visitors or 0.01% through Keelung, 836 visitors or 1.21% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 59.19% (41,016 people) while female were 40.81% (28,283 people).
   3. Age: There were 8,927 (12.88%) visitors under 19-year-old, 42,928 (61.95%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 15,075 (21.75%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 2,369 (3.42%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 61 (0.09%), 4,930 (7.11%), and 3,504 (5.06%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 28,801 people or 61.08%, stayed over 90 nights. Visitors staying 31-60 nights, 5,384 people or 11.42%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 16-30 nights, 4,836 people or 10.26%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in August was 31.46 nights.
