A total of 29,760 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in April, 2022, increasing 11,917 or 66.79% from the 17,843 in April of last year. The arrivals included 28,085 foreign visitors and 1,675 Overseas Chinese. Compared with April of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 12,200 or 76.80%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors decreased by 283 or -14.45%.
 

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 764 or 2.57% of the total, down 20.25%, consisting of 1 foreign visitors, down 50%and 763 Overseas Chinese, down 20.19%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 490 or 1.65% of the total, down 28.26%, consisting of 23 foreign visitors, up 91.67%, and 467 Overseas Chinese, down 30.40%.
   3. Japan accounted for 1,758 or 5.91% of the total, up 52.74%, consisting of 1,743 foreign visitors, up 53.57%, and 15 Overseas Chinese, down 6.25%.
   4. Korea, 442 or 1.49% of the total, up 12.18%, consisting of 423 foreign visitors, up 9.30%, and 19 Overseas Chinese, up 171.43%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 21,578 or 72.51% of the total, up 95.17%, consisting of 21,483 foreign visitors, up 94.96%, and 95 Overseas Chinese, up 156.76%.
   6. U.S.A., 1,208 or 4.06% of the total, up 28.10%, consisting of 1,041 foreign visitors, up 36.97%, and 167 Overseas Chinese, down 8.74%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 184 or 0.62% of the total, up 192.06%, consisting of 141 foreign visitors, up 143.10%, and 43 Overseas Chinese, up 760%.
   8. Europe, 2,293 or 7.70% of the total, up 32.54%, consisting of 2,250 foreign visitors, up 32.35%, and 43 Overseas Chinese, up 43.33%
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 1,043 or 3.50% of the total, up 20.58%, consisting of 980 foreign visitors, up 20.69%, and 63 Overseas Chinese, up 18.87%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 1,742 visitors from Japan accounting for 5.85% of the total. This was up 605 or 53.21%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 423 visitors from Korea accounting for 1.42% of the total. This was up 33, or 8.46%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 21,475 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 72.16% of the total. This was up 10,431 or 94.45%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 1,043 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 3.50% of the total. This was up 281 or 36.88%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 145 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 0.49% of the total. This was up 82, or 130.16%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 2,271 visitors from Europe accounting for 7.63% of the total. This was up 564, or 33.04%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.92% (571 people), 0.74% (220 people), and 0.49% (146 people) of the total which were up 75.15%, up 17.65%, and up 3.55% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 986 or 3.31%, up 204 or 26.09%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 1,675 or 5.63%, down 283 or -14.45%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 467 or -72.12%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 29,760 visitors, 95.93% by air of whom 28,550. 27,708 visitors or 93.10% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 78 visitors or 0.26% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 4.07% by sea of whom 1,210. 500 visitors or 1.68% through Kaohsiung port, 16 visitors or 0.05% through Keelung, 478 visitors or 1.61% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 65.54% (19,506 people) while female were 33.46% (10,254 people).
   3. Age: There were 1,737 (5.84%) visitors under 19-year-old, 21,072 (70.81%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 6,107 (20.52%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 844 (2.84%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 14 (0.05%), 2,515 (8.45%), and 934 (3.14%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 17,474 people or 77.19%, stayed over 90 nights. Visitors staying 16-30 nights, 1,473 people or 6.51%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 31-60 nights, 1,437 people or 6.35%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in April was 31.86 nights.
