Visitor Statistical Analysis for February, 2022-Tourism Administration, M.O.T.C. Republic of China

A total of 11,556 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in February, 2022, decreasing 1,118 or -8.82% from the 12,674 in February of last year. The arrivals included 8,969 foreign visitors and 2,587 Overseas Chinese. Compared with February of last year, the number of foreign visitors decreased by 2,364 or -20.86%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 1,246 or 92.92%.

Main markets by residence
1. Mainland China accounted for 1,380 or 11.94% of the total, up 143.82%, consisting of 0 foreign visitors, down 100%.and 1,380 Overseas Chinese, up 144.68%.
2. Hong Kong and Macao, 834 or 7.22% of the total, up 38.08%, consisting of 8 foreign visitors, up 14.29%, and 826 Overseas Chinese, up 38.36%.
3. Japan accounted for 1,116 or 9.66% of the total, up 3.72%, consisting of 1,095 foreign visitors, up 2.24%, and 21 Overseas Chinese, up 320%.
4. Korea, 359 or 3.11% of the total, up 24.22%, consisting of 340 foreign visitors, up 21%, and 19 Overseas Chinese, up 137.50%.
5. Southeast Asia, 3,569 or 30.88% of the total, down 53.55%, consisting of 3,490 foreign visitors, down 54.40%, and 79 Overseas Chinese, up 163.33%.
6. U.S.A., 955 or 8.26% of the total, up 25.16%, consisting of 811 foreign visitors, up 20.51%, and 144 Overseas Chinese, up 60%.
7. Australia and New Zealand, 101 or 0.87% of the total, up 94.23%, consisting of 88 foreign visitors, up 79.59%, and 13 Overseas Chinese, up 333.33%.
8. Europe, 1,523 or 13.18% of the total, up 36.59%, consisting of 1,483 foreign visitors, up 35.43%, and 40 Overseas Chinese, up 100%.
9. Other countries or regions accounted for 1,719 or 14.88% of the total, up 227.43%, consisting of 1,654 foreign visitors, up 230.14%, and 65 Overseas Chinese, up 170.83%.
Main markets by country of nationality
1. There were 1,156 visitors from Japan accounting for 10% of the total. This was up 81 or 7.53%, from the number in the same month last year.
2. There were 361 visitors from Korea accounting for 3.12% of the total. This was up 79, or 28.01%, from the number in the same month last year.
3. There were 3,955 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 34.22% of the total. This was down 3,704 or -48.36%, from the number in the same month last year.
4. There were 884 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 7.65% of the total. This was up 212 or 31.55%, from the number in the same month last year.
5. There were 91 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 0.79% of the total. This was up 42, or 85.71%, from the number in the same month last year.
6. There were 1,583 visitors from Europe accounting for 13.70% of the total. This was up 490, or 44.83%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 2.63% (304 people), 1.58% (183 people), and 1.20% (139 people) of the total which were up 69.83%, up 14.38%, and up 51.09% from the number in the same month last year.
7. Other nationals accounted for 939 or 8.13%, up 436 or 86.68%.
8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 2,587 or 22.39%, up 1,246 or 92.92%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 826 or 31.93%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
Main markets by type of visitor
1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 11,556 visitors, 94.95% by air of whom ,10,972. 10,108 visitors or 87.47% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 248 visitors or 2.15% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 5.05% by sea of whom 584. 165 visitors or 1.43% through Kaohsiung port, 24 visitors or 0.21%, through Keelung, 255 visitors or 2.21% through Taichung.
2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 63.69% (7,360 people) while female were 36.31% (4,196 people).
3. Age: There were 865 (7.49%) visitors under 19-year-old, 6,412 (55.49%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 3,604 (31.19%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 675 (5.84%) over 60-year-old.
4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 6 (0.05%), 902 (7.81%), and 553 (4.79%) visitors.
5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 10,642 people or 79.97%, stayed over 90 nights. Visitors staying 31-60 nights, 1,117 people or 8.39%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 61-90 nights, 538 people or 4.04%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in February was 39.15 nights.
