Visitor Statistical Analysis for July, 2021

A total of 5,480 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in July, 2021, decreasing 6,268 or -53.35% from the 11,748 in July of last year. The arrivals included 4,082 foreign visitors and 1,398 Overseas Chinese. Compared with July of last year, the number of foreign visitors decreased by 4,600 or -52.98%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors decreased by 1,668 or -54.40%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 518 or 9.45% of the total, down 42.95%, consisting of 0 foreign visitors,down 100%.and 518 Overseas Chinese, down 42.83%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 625 or 11.41% of the total, down 65.62%, consisting of 1 foreign visitors, down 98.11%, and 624 Overseas Chinese, down 64.65%.
   3. Japan accounted for 372 or 6.79% of the total, down 47.97%, consisting of 364 foreign visitors, down 48.44%, and 8 Overseas Chinese, down 11.11%.
   4. Korea, 129 or 2.35% of the total, down 61.26%, consisting of 118 foreign visitors, down 63.24%, and 11 Overseas Chinese, down 8.33%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 1,340 or 24.45% of the total, down 75.12%, consisting of 1,323 foreign visitors, down 75.15%, and 17 Overseas Chinese, down 72.13%.
   6. U.S.A., 1,235 or 22.54% of the total, up 15.42%, consisting of 1,085 foreign visitors, up 27.05%, and 150 Overseas Chinese, down 30.56%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 37 or 0.68% of the total, down 47.14%, consisting of 32 foreign visitors, up 50.77%, and 5 Overseas Chinese, up 0.00%.
   8. Europe, 913 or 16.66% of the total, down 13.54%, consisting of 883 foreign visitors, down 12.57%, and 30 Overseas Chinese, down 34.78%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 311 or 5.68% of the total, down 20.66%, consisting of 276 foreign visitors, down 20.23%, and 35 Overseas Chinese, down 23.91%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 365 visitors from Japan accounting for 6.66% of the total. This was down 343 or -48.65%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 117 visitors from Korea accounting for 2.14% of the total. This was down 205, or 63.66%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 1,375 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 25.09% of the total. This was down 3,957, or -74.21%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 1,085 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 19.80% of the total. This was up 215 or 24.71%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 32 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 0.58% of the total. This was down 39, or -54.93%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 884 visitors from Europe accounting for 16.13% of the total. This was down 146, or -14.17%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 2.35% (129 people), 2.04% (112 people), and 1.90% (104 people) of the total which were down 48.81%, up 4.67%, and up 14.29% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 224 or 4.09%, down 125 or -35.82%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 1,398 or 25.51%, down 1,668 or -54.40%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 624, or 44.64%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 5,480 visitors, 76.04% by air of whom 4,167. 3,715 visitors or 67.79% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 135 visitors or 2.46% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 23.96% by sea of whom 1,313. 712 visitors or 12.99% through Kaohsiung port, 274 visitors or 5.00%, through Keelung, 159 visitors or 2.90% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 66.35% (3,636 people) while female were 33.65% (1,844people).
   3. Age: There were 904(16.50%) visitors under 19-year-old, 2,489(45.42%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 1,854(33.83%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 233(4.25%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 0(0.00%), 291 (1.30%), and 67 (1.22%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 15,565 people or 81.69%, stayed over 90 nights. Visitors staying 31-60 nights, 1,095 people or 5.75%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 61-90 nights, 805 people or 4.22%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in July was 36.21 nights.
