Visitor Statistical Analysis for June, 2021

A total of 2,779 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in June, 2021, decreasing 4,712 or -62.90% from the 7,491 in June of last year. The arrivals included 1,865 foreign visitors and 914 Overseas Chinese. Compared with June of last year, the number of foreign visitors decreased by 4,460 or -70.51%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors decreased by 252 or -21.61%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 283 or 10.18% of the total, down 63.10%, consisting of 0 foreign visitors,down 100%.and 283 Overseas Chinese, down 62.81%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 327 or 11.77% of the total, up 84.75%, consisting of 0 foreign visitors, down 100.00%, and 327 Overseas Chinese, up 90.12%.
   3. Japan accounted for 194 or 6.98% of the total, down 58.81%, consisting of 187 foreign visitors, down 59.35%, and 7 Overseas Chinese, down 36.36%.
   4. Korea, 82 or 2.95% of the total, down 50.00%, consisting of 78 foreign visitors, down 49.02%, and 4 Overseas Chinese, down 63.64%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 633 or 22.78% of the total, down 84.87%, consisting of 625 foreign visitors, down 84.90%, and 8 Overseas Chinese, down 82.61%.
   6. U.S.A., 457 or 16.44% of the total, down 16.45%, consisting of 215 foreign visitors, down 50.00%, and 242 Overseas Chinese, up 106.84%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 13 or 0.47% of the total, down 71.11%, consisting of 11 foreign visitors, down 74.42%, and 2 Overseas Chinese, up 0.00%.
   8. Europe, 540 or 19.43% of the total, down 23.94%, consisting of 521 foreign visitors, down 25.04%, and 19 Overseas Chinese, up 26.67%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 250 or 9.00% of the total, down 41.31%, consisting of 228 foreign visitors, down 42.28%, and 22 Overseas Chinese, down 29.03%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 187 visitors from Japan accounting for 6.73% of the total. This was down 277 or -59.70%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 78 visitors from Korea accounting for 2.81% of the total. This was down 75, or -49.02%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 679 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 24.43% of the total. This was down 3,635, or -84.26%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 215 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 7.74% of the total. This was down 222 or -50.80%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 11 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 0.40% of the total. This was down 32, or -74.42%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 521 visitors from Europe accounting for 18.75% of the total. This was down 178, or -25.46%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 3.78% (105 people), 1.48% (41 people), and 1.12% (31 people) of the total which were down 23.36%, down 42.25%, and down 42.59% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 174 or 6.26%, down 41 or -19.07%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 914 or 32.89%, down 252 or -21.61%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 327, or 35.78%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 2,779 visitors, 71.21% by air of whom 1,979. 1,761 visitors or 63.37% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 57 visitors or 2.05% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 28.79% by sea of whom 800. 310 visitors or 11.06% through Kaohsiung port, 6 visitors or 0.22%, through Keelung, 278 visitors or 10.00% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 71.50% (1,987 people) while female were 28.50% (792people).
   3. Age: There were 353(12.70%) visitors under 19-year-old, 1,285(46.24%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 986(35.48%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 155(5.58%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 1(0.04%), 36 (1.30%), and 19 (0.68%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 18,858 people or 85.17%, stayed over 90 nights. Visitors staying 31-60 nights, 1,529 people or 6.91%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 61-90 nights, 784 people or 3.54%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in June was 43.01 nights.
