A total of 543,388 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in July, 2023, increasing 493,397 or 986.97% from the 49,991 in July of last year. The arrivals included 378,521 foreign visitors and 164,867 Overseas Chinese. Compared with July of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 333,048 or 732.41%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 160,349 or 3549.11%.

1. Main markets by residence
   1. Mainland China accounted for 26,661 or 4.91% of the total, up 1370.55%, consisting of 650 foreign visitors, up 9185.71% and 26,011 Overseas Chinese, up 1340.25%.
   2. Hong Kong and Macao, 142,926 or 26.30% of the total, up 13830.41%, consisting of 6,469 foreign visitors, up 15678.05%, and 136,457 Overseas Chinese, up 13753.50%.
   3. Japan accounted for 70,975 or 13.06% of the total, up 2111.06%, consisting of 70,841 foreign visitors, up 2149.63%, and 134 Overseas Chinese, up 119.67%.
   4. Korea, 47,811 or 8.80% of the total, up 3948.35%, consisting of 47,589 foreign visitors, up 4078.14%, and 222 Overseas Chinese, up 428.57%.
   5. Southeast Asia, 161,218 or 29.67% of the total, up 441.11%, consisting of 160,674 foreign visitors, up 443.41%, and 544 Overseas Chinese, up 140.71%.
   6. U.S.A., 47,793 or 8.80% of the total, up 854.71%, consisting of 46,910 foreign visitors, up 1038.59%, and 883 Overseas Chinese, decline -0.34%.
   7. Australia and New Zealand, 6,864 or 1.26% of the total, up 1603.23%, consisting of 6,824 foreign visitors, up 1822.25%, and 40 Overseas Chinese, decline -16.67%.
   8. Europe, 22,920 or 4.22% of the total, up 373.36%, consisting of 22,670 foreign visitors, up 395.52%, and 250 Overseas Chinese, decline -6.37%.
   9. Other countries or regions accounted for 16,220 or 2.98% of the total, up 497.20%, consisting of 15,894 foreign visitors, up 530.96%, and 326 Overseas Chinese, up 65.48%.
2. Main markets by country of nationality
   1. There were 70,965 visitors from Japan accounting for 13.06% of the total. This was up 67,819 or 2155.772%, from the number in the same month last year.
   2. There were 47,795 visitors from Korea accounting for 8.80% of the total. This was up 46,649 or 4070.59%, from the number in the same month last year.
   3. There were 160,475 visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 29.53% of the total. This was up 130,885 or 442.33%, from the number in the same month last year.
   4. There were 48,135 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 8.86% of the total. This was up 44,003 or 1064.93%, from the number in the same month last year.
   5. There were 7,856 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 1.45% of the total. This was up 7,491 or 2052.33%, from the number in the same month last year.
   6. There were 26,735 visitors from Europe accounting for 4.92% of the total. This was up 22,139, or 481.70%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 1.27% (6,886 people), 0.71% (3,868 people), and 0.70% (3,781 people) of the total which were up 604.81%, up 554.48%, and up 556.42% from the number in the same month last year.
   7. Other nationals accounted for 16,560 or 3.05%, up 14,062 or 562.93%.
   8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 164,867 or 30.34%, up 160,349 or 3549.11%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 136,457 or 82.77% of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
3.  Main markets by type of visitor
   1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 543,388 visitors, 96.73% by air of whom 525,596. 434,679 visitors or 79.99% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 44,743 visitors or 8.23% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 3.27% by sea of whom 17,792. 9,297 visitors or 1.71% through Kaohsiung port, 5,254 visitors or 0.97% through Keelung, 569 visitors or 0.10% through Taichung.
   2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 47.61% (258,708 people) while female were 52.39% (284,680 people).
   3. Age: There were 79,664 (14.66%) visitors under 19-year-old, 230,408 (42.40%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 172,058 (31.66%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 61,258 (11.27%) over 60-year-old.
   4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 343,806 (63.27%), 35,094 (6.46%), and 38,677 (7.12%) visitors.
   5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 95,504 people or 18.02%, stayed 3 nights. Visitors staying 5-7 nights, 93,121 people or 17.57%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for over 90 nights, 84,013 people or 15.85%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in July was 7.94 nights.
