A total of 14,107visitors arrived in the Republic of China in October, 2021, decreasing 4,875 or -25.68% from the 18,982 in October of last year. The arrivals included 10,528foreign visitors and 3,579 Overseas Chinese. Compared with October of last year, the number of foreign visitors decreased by 5,381 or -33.82%,and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 506 or 16.47%.

Main markets by residence
1. Mainland China accounted for 1,605 or 11.38% of the total, down 11.33%, consisting of 0 foreign visitors, down 0%.and 1,605 Overseas Chinese, down 11.33%.
2. Hong Kong and Macao, 1,691 or 11.99% of the total, up 96.17%, consisting of 8 foreign visitors, down 61.90%, and 1,683 Overseas Chinese, up 100.12%.
3. Japan accounted for 1,064 or 7.54% of the total, up 7.91%, consisting of 1,049 foreign visitors, up 8.37%, and 15 Overseas Chinese, down 16.67%.
4. Korea, 287 or 2.03% of the total, down 14.58%, consisting of 278 foreign visitors, down 13.13%, and 9 Overseas Chinese, down 43.75%.
5. Southeast Asia, 5,658 or 40.11% of the total, down 49.49%, consisting of 5,619 foreign visitors, down 49.63%, and 39 Overseas Chinese, down 13.33%.
6. U.S.A., 1,001 or 7.10% of the total, down 11.57%, consisting of 863 foreign visitors, down 1.71%, and 138 Overseas Chinese, down 45.67%.
7. Australia and New Zealand, 67 or 0.47% of the total, down 31.63%, consisting of 61 foreign visitors, down 35.11%, and 6 Overseas Chinese, up 50.00%.
8. Europe, 1,668 or 11.82% of the total, up 1.21%, consisting of 1,630 foreign visitors, up 0.80%, and 38 Overseas Chinese, up 22.58%.
9. Other countries or regions accounted for 1,066 or 7.56% of the total, up 17.27%, consisting of 1,020 foreign visitors, up 19.30%, and 46 Overseas Chinese, down 14.81%.
Main markets by country of nationality
1. There were 1,047 visitors from Japan accounting for 7.42% of the total. This was up 79 or 8.16%, from the number in the same month last year.
2. There were 279 visitors from Korea accounting for 1.98% of the total. This was down 40, or -12.54%, from the number in the same month last year.
3. There were 5,625visitors from Southeast Asia accounting for 39.87% of the total. This was down 5,542 or -49.63%, from the number in the same month last year.
4. There were 860 visitors from U.S.A accounting for 6.10% of the total. This was down 18 or -2.05%, from the number in the same month last year.
5. There were 63 visitors from Australia and New Zealand accounting for 0.45% of the total. This was down 31, or -32.98%, from the number in the same month last year.
6. There were 1,633 visitors from Europe accounting for 11.58% of the total. This was down 1, or -0.06%, from the number in the same month last year. Visitors from U.K., Germany, and France accounted for 2.03% (287 people), 1.18% (166 people), and 1.01% (143 people) of the total which were down 15.84%, down 18.63%, and down 22.70% from the number in the same month last year.
7. Other nationals accounted for 1,021 or 7.24%, up 172 or 20.26%.
8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 3,579 or 25.37%, up 506 or 16.47%. Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 1,683 or 47.02%, of the total Overseas Chinese visitors.
Main markets by type of visitor
1. Mode of transportation and port of entry: There were 14,107 visitors, 91.91% by air of whom 12,966. 12,250 visitors or 86.84% through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 290 visitors or 2.06% through Kaohsiung Airport. Meanwhile, there were 8.09% by sea of whom 1,141. 194 visitors or 1.38% through Kaohsiung port, 43 visitors or 0.30%, through Keelung, 456 visitors or 3.23% through Taichung.
2. Gender: Male visitors accounted for 55.99% (7,898 people) while female were 44.01% (6,209people).
3. Age: There were 3,698(26.21%) visitors under 19-year-old, 6,926(49.10%) between 20 to 39-year-old, 2,971(21.06%) between 40 to 59-year-old, and 512(3.63%) over 60-year-old.
4. Purpose of visit: The main purposes are Leisure, business, and relatives visiting with 7(0.05%), 775 (5.49%), and 487 (3.45%) visitors.
5. Length of stay: Most of visitors, 10,030 people or 80.44%, stayed over 90 nights. Visitors staying 16-30 nights, 631 people or 5.06%, ranked second. Visitors stayed for 31-60 nights, 580 people or 4.65%, ranked third. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in October was 27.54 nights.
