2006 Tourism Policies

Achieving the annual visitor goals of the "Doubling Tourist Arrivals Plan"

Focal Points of Tourism Policy Implementation in 2006
  • Strengthening packaging and promotion of flagship tourism sites and activities and assisting the internationalization and commoditization of flagship tourist events in accordance with specific measures of the Tourism Flagship Plan.
  • Continuing to promote the development of 12 tour routes, including the construction of high-quality and visitor-friendly public facilities and a sound tourism and travel environment.
  • Improving the environment for private investment and actively encouraging private investment in tourism development projects.
  • Opening visitor centers at highway rest stops and High Speed Railway stations in cooperation with the Taiwan Highway Bureau and the Taiwan High Speed Railway Corporation.
  • Promoting Taiwan's international tourism brand image, with "Taiwan, Touch Your Heart" as the international marketing slogan.
  • Integrating Hakka and aboriginal resources, promoting special interest tours, planning new tour products with international appeal, and utilizing international promotional, advertising and marketing channels to achieve the annual visitor goals under the "Doubling Tourist Arrivals Plan".
  • Continuing assistance to help home stay (B&B) inns legally register, and assisting the international promotion activities of inns able to serve international guests.
  • Drafting preparatory measures for responding to an influx of tourists from mainland China.
