2009 Tourism Policies

Promote "Tour Taiwan Year 2009" and the "TOP-notch Tourism Plan" Implement the "Medium-term Plan for Construction of Major Tourist Sites" and use "Growth and regeneration" as our core values. Facing the direction of "multi-dimensional opening and reaching out to the whole world," develop Taiwan as a major travel destination in Asia.

Focal Points of Tourism Policy Implementation in 2009
  • Promote "Tour Taiwan Year 2009." Implement and carry out publicity and promotion work domestically and overseas. Build a friendly travel environment. Develop diverse Taiwan tourism products. Raise the level of and invigorate Taiwan's tourism market.
  • Implement the "TOP-notch Tourism Plan (2009-2015)." Plan the promotion of Taiwan's 10 most charming scenic spots, the upgrading of industry standards, the development of tourism attractions to international levels and the training of industry personnel as the four main plans. Assist local governments and the tourism industry in upgrading of the quality and quantity of our tourism services.
  • Carry out the "Medium-term Plan for Construction of major Tourist Sites (2008-2011)." Establish the direction for the development of national scenic areas and focus on various locations' unique characteristics.
  • Renovate and construct in different grades rest and recreation facilities at important tourism scenic spots that are among the best in Taiwan. Achieve the reappearance of grace and beauty at the scenic spots.
  • Coordinate the "Bicycle Recreation Network Demonstration Plan." Promote the networking of bicycle routes in scenic areas and the strengthening of nearby areas' service facilities. Promote the further diversification of bicycle tours. Develop green and low-carbon tourism.
  • Grasp the turning point in mainland Chinese people coming to Taiwan for tourism. In addition to managing the mainland tourism market with good faith, high quality and continuity, take advantage of the transportation convenience of the "Three Direct Links" across the Taiwan Straits, and develop MICE, cruises and other such international tourism markets.
  • Implement the "Star Rating System for Hotels" and the "Homestay Certification" program. Promote the raising of service quality in the tourist hotel industry.
