The "2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival" returns to Taipei after a 23-year hiatus, showcasing a fusion of innovative technology and traditional techniques, welcoming visitors from all over the world with joy.

The 34th Taiwan Lantern Festival opened in Taipei and lasts 15 days from February 5th to February 19th. After three years of a difficult pandemic, Taiwan's first international large-scale festival is hosted by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and invites domestic and foreign tourists to experience the city lantern festival that integrates innovative technology and traditional skills.

The Taiwan Lantern Festival has been held in Taipei and other counties and cities since 2001, bringing resources to each city and promoting local development. It combines local cultural characteristics and showcases unique local history and urban charm, attracting many international tourists to Taiwan. After years of effort, it has become an important brand for the marketing of Taiwan. Returning the Lantern Festival to Taipei, where it began, 23 years later, symbolizes a new beginning and represents Taiwan's readiness to welcome travelers from all over the world.

The 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival is a traditional international exhibition event. In addition to inviting the President, Executive Yuan President, Minister of Transportation and Communications, Director-General of the Tourism Bureau, and Taipei Mayor to light the main lamp "Brilliant Light of the Jade Hare" and pray for Taiwan, several well-known international performance teams have been invited to perform, along with outstanding local Taiwanese teams. The festival combines tourism, technology, culture, and art to showcase local values and innovative energy. Visitors are advised to take public transportation to travel around the northeast corner of Taiwan to Yilan, Taoyuan, Keelung or Taipei during the day and try local specialties.
