Following a comprehensive interagency policy review conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Administration announced that Taiwan’s Project for Simplifying Visa Regulations for High-end Group Tourists from Southeast Asian Countries, hereinafter referred to as the “Project,” will no longer apply to Cambodian nationals beginning August 1, 2026. This change will not apply retroactively.
The Project is a visa facilitation measure introduced to advance the New Southbound Policy and attract high-quality tour groups from Southeast Asia to Taiwan. Since its introduction, the Tourism Administration has continued to review the Project in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Immigration Agency, Ministry of the Interior, and other relevant agencies. Following interagency consultations, it was decided that the Project will no longer apply to Cambodian nationals beginning August 1. From that date, the Project’s application system will cease accepting group applications submitted by designated Cambodian travel agencies. Cambodian nationals whose applications have already been approved under the Project and who have obtained electronic visas may still enter Taiwan in accordance with applicable regulations during the validity period of their visas.
Taiwan remains committed to promoting international tourism with an open and welcoming approach. The Tourism Administration will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Immigration Agency, and other relevant agencies to regularly assess the effectiveness of entry facilitation measures. While balancing the benefits of tourism promotion with border security considerations, the Administration will continue working to create a high-quality and sustainable international tourism environment.
