Amsterdam, 16 May 2025 – With the official opening of the Taiwan Tourism Information Centre (TTIC) in Amsterdam on 15 May 2025, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) is taking an important step towards strengthening its position in the Dutch market. From the new information centre, located on Brouwersgracht, Taiwan aims to work more closely with the Dutch travel sector and inspire travellers to discover the island as a diverse and surprising destination.

Festive opening with Taiwanese flair

The festive opening ceremony of the Taiwan Tourism Information Centre in Amsterdam was attended by more than 40 professionals from the travel industry, including representatives from airlines such as China Airlines, EVA Air and KLM, as well as various local media outlets. The official opening ceremony was inaugurated by General Director Yung-Hui Chou together with Ambassador Chung Kwang Tien of the Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands.

General-Director Yung-Hui stated that Taiwan and the Netherlands have shared many similarities in recent years and highlighted three unique ways for Dutch visitors to explore Taiwan: by bike, by train, and through taste. He warmly invited everyone to experience Taiwan for themselves.

Local traditions and culinary surprises during an inspiring afternoon

Visitors were treated to a colourful lion dance, a traditional Taiwanese diabolo performance and a lunch in which Taiwanese specialities were combined with traditional Dutch bitterballen. Afterwards, there was an opportunity to network with five Taiwanese tourism partners, and the event concluded with a festive lucky draw, in which two lucky attendees each received a return ticket from Amsterdam to Taipei, offered by China Airlines and EVA Air. Currently, travelers to Taiwan can fly with EVA Air, which offers three weekly nonstop connections from Amsterdam via Bangkok to Taipei. In addition, China Airlines provides four weekly direct flights between Amsterdam and Taipei, operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Dutch market increasingly important for Taiwan

The number of Dutch visitors to Taiwan is growing steadily, thanks in part to the country's easy accessibility and increasing range of cultural, culinary and nature-based experiences. In 2024, 24,602 Dutch travellers visited Taiwan. As the fourth resource market in Europe, Taiwan sees the Dutch market as promising and is therefore committed to strengthening collaboration with Dutch travel professionals and media.
