歷任小學教師、大學教授、主任，兼任成功大學、高雄師範大學教授、全國美展評審委員、書法教育學會評議委員、臺北國父念館評議委員、高雄美術館、臺南市美術館典藏委員，八次獲臺灣省教育廳、行政院國科會著作獎、2008年教育部師資培育典範獎、2013年嘉義大學傑出校友、2018年臺南市資深傑出藝術家，應邀舉辦巡迴展。主要著作《褚遂良楷書風格研究》、《黃宗義書法集》、《天隱廬書藝‧薪傳》、《天隱廬書藝‧墨變》、《天隱清興--黃宗義小品書法》等。現任國立成功大學、國立臺南大學兼任教授。
HUANG, ZONG-YI

He served as an elementary school teacher, a Professor and a Dean of a university, a part-time Professor of National Cheng Kung University and National Kaohsiung Normal University, a Review Committee member of National Art Exhibition, a Review Committee member of Chinese Calligraphy Education Society, a Review Committee member of National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and a Collections Committee member of Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts and Tainan Art Museum. He received eight times the Book Award of Education Department of Taiwan Provincial Government and National Science Council of the Executive Yuan, received Teacher Training Model Award of the Ministry of Education in 2008, was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus of National Chiayi University in 2013 and a Senior Outstanding Artist of Tainan City in 2018, and was invited to hold touring exhibitions.
His main works are A Study of Chu Sui-Liang's Regular Script Style, Collected Chinese Calligraphy Works of Huang Zong-Yi, Chinese Calligraphic Art of Tianyin Hut ‧ Heritage Transmission, Chinese Calligraphic Art of Tianyin Hut ‧ Ink Changes, and Tianyin Qingxing –Collection of Small Chinese Calligraphy Works of Huang Zong-Yi. Currently, he serves as a part-time Professor of National Cheng Kung University and National University of Tainan.

Description:
Golden shower trees are grown everywhere in Hutoupi, and the blooming flowers form a specular scene. The artistic conception is presented as written lines in the work. The Chinese calligrapher pursues a kind of high-level expression of emotions. The work reveals his personal life experience.
Appreciation:
This work is a precise grasp of ink, power and white space. The Chinese calligrapher boldly uses the image of golden shower flower to write the lines like falling flower rain. The work is expressed in cursive and semi-cursive scripts. It can be seen that the style of the words highlights the Chinese calligrapher’s feeling about Hutoupi deep inside his heart.
