The North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Headquarters under the Tourism Administration, MOTC has garnered international recognition for its visual branding! Its newly designed emblem, launched in 2024, recently competed in the U.K.’s prestigious Future Art & Design Award (FADA)  and earned the coveted Platinum Prize. Among entries from nearly 10 countries worldwide, the emblem stood out, showcasing Taiwan’s exceptional creativity and local branding prowess on the international stage.

Hosted in the U.K., FADA is a global design competition known for its emphases on professionalism, fairness, and innovation. It provides an efficient, professional platform for participants of all ages and career stages from around the world to shine. This Platinum Prize not only affirms the high quality of Taiwan’s landscape-inspired visual design, but also highlights the innovative capabilities of Taiwan’s tourism sector in the global arena.

The award-winning emblem centers on Yehliu’s iconic “Queen’s Head,” the most renowned natural landmark in the jurisdiction of the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters. It skillfully blends in the contours of Guanyinshan and the vibrant green formations of the Laomei Green Reef, using geometric shapes and lively colors to represent the area’s rich diversity and transforming local nature and culture into an international visual language. The palette features the three main colors of light blue, orange-yellow, and emerald green, symbolizing the blue sky and white clouds, warm sunset glow, and thriving ecosystems, respectively. These elements are intertwined in a circular composition, representing the notions of cultural fusion, regional prosperity, and sustainable development.

According to the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters, the design team was committed to blending local characteristics with modern aesthetics. Beyond establishing a highly recognizable visual system, the goal was also to deepen international visitors’ impression of the North Coast and Guanyinshan national scenic areas. This honor is not only a triumph in design but also a testament to how local Taiwanese culture can make a global impact. The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters will continue to leverage its creativity and professionalism to elevate its tourism branding and expand its global presence.

Winning the FADA Platinum Prize is a mark of honor, a valuable branding asset, and an opportunity for international exposure for the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters. Moving forward, the headquarters will strengthen its visual image by applying the new emblem across its promotional materials, event visuals, and public infrastructure. This consistent and attractive image will enhance visitor experience and local cultural value.
