North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Headquarters

:::

Profile

The North Coast and Guanyinshan Scenic Areas were originally under the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan Provincial Government, while Yehliu Scenic Area was under the jurisdiction of Taipei County Government (restructured into New Taipei City Government on December 25, 2010). The Ministry of Transportation and Communications reorganized the three scenic areas in order to comply with the streamlining of the provincial government. The three designated scenic areas were integrated as the "North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOTC” formally established in 1991 to coordinate and manage tourism resources in the three scenic areas, including the North Coast, Guanyinshan, and Yehliu. In addition, as Keelung City's Waimu Mountain, Lover's Lake and Heping Island are all important tourist scenic spots on the north coast, the MOTC announced these were also included in the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration on December 15, 2014. Approved by the Executive Yuan, it was officially upgraded to the “North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC” on September 15, 2023. Currently, it is responsible for implementing the planning and development of the area, operating and managing tourist attractions with cultural, natural, intellectual and ecological elements.
