In collaboration with industry partners, on May 21, the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Headquarters (hereinafter abbreviated as “Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters”), Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters, and Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters (under the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications) officially established the Northern Taiwan Regional Tourism Alliance (hereinafter abbreviated as “the alliance”). Centered around the unique natural features of mountains, seas, and island, the goal of the alliance is to integrate northern Taiwan’s rich natural and cultural resources to build international tourist destinations through vertical and horizontal collaboration.

The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters oversees Crown Coast tourism areas that feature a coastal line sparkling like a crown at Taiwan’s northern tip. Through the promotion of seaside cycling and sustainable Guanyinshan tourism, the said headquarters fosters a low-carbon, eco-friendly environment that blends nature, ecology, and leisure together. The Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters, through its Great Northeast Tourism Union , highlights its natural and cultural attractions such as diversified hiking trails, distinctive coastal rock formations, and charming old streets. Additionally, the union showcases the development of various farming and fishing villages, presenting a truly unique township cultural atmosphere. The Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters, covering four townships across five islands, boasts historical military sites, eastern Fujian-style architecture, peculiar rocks, sea view, internationally renowned bioluminescence (called “blue tears”), vibrant festivals, and rich gourmet food to offer visitors a deep and immersive island tourism experience. The Northern Taiwan Regional Tourism Alliance Inaugural Conference and Strategic Promotion Forum (hereinafter referred to as “the forum”) was held to facilitate relevant brainstorming and exchanges in order to integrate the charming characteristics of different tourism regions and develop international marketing strategies, thereby shaping northern Taiwan into a travel destination of global appeal.

The forum focused on the themes of sustainable tourism and smart brand marketing. In the session on sustainable tourism, Managing Director Andy Huang of Lion Travel shared his insights and experiences in promoting senior-friendly, railway, green tourism, and tourism industry upgrades in Taiwan. In the smart brand marketing session, Supervisor Lin Hsiang-sheng of Taoyuan International Airport Services delivered a speech on “AI-empowered ‘Northern Taiwan Regional Tourism’ brand marketing,” highlighting how brand marketing demand-oriented judgment, market trend-related understanding, and recommendation execution can enhance brand value and increase customer purchase rates.

To devise strategies and engage in collaboration to drive northern Taiwan regional tourism, in addition to the aforementioned insightful keynote presentations, tourism-related competent authorities from Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Yilan County shared relevant information at the forum, encouraging cross-domain resource sharing to further enhance cooperation opportunities. Representatives from the Tourism Administration and local governments also engaged in in-depth discussions with tourism industry partners to enable public-private partnership to elevate the impact of regional tourism marketing.

The forum, attended by Chief Secretary Fang Cheng-kuang of the Tourism Administration and various alliance partners, marked a major milestone for the Tourism Administration. Moving forward, the alliance will elect a coordinator to act as the liaison between itself and the Tourism Administration, aiming to build a tourism network with unique appeal through a public-private cooperation framework. As a major gateway to the world, Taoyuan officially joined Crown Coast tourism areas this year. Leveraging the dual international gateways of Taoyuan International Airport and Keelung Port, the alliance aims to attract international tourists through uniquely curated travel itineraries that combine food, lodging, sightseeing, shopping, and transportation. This approach is expected to stimulate the local tourism economy and revitalize regional industry chains. With integrated land, sea, and air transportation advantages, the alliance will continue to launch in-depth travel itineraries tailored to both domestic and international visitors.
