In response to Arbor Day, the headquarters held an Arbor Day and Tourism Safety Promotion Activity at Shimen Kite Park on the 12th. Colleagues from the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters, Shimen District Office in New Taipei City, Village Chiefs and local residents gathered to plant hundreds of Formosan Nato Trees, a native species.
In order to ensure the source of seedlings this event cooperated with the Chiayi Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, to obtain 100 seedlings of the native Taiwanese species, and invited Mr. Lin Tzu-hsiung, a tree planting entrepreneur, to demonstrate tree planting and discuss the importance of tree planting. Shih Tsung-hong, deputy director of the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters, said that in the past as the beach and coastal forests of Kite Park gradually aged, the northeast monsoon and typhoons caused the trees to wither and deteriorate. On this occasion, the tree planting location was specially chosen in the hope that the salt tolerant and wind-resistant characteristics of the Formosan Nato Trees will help to create a new look for the area.
In addition, in order to improve the safety of recreational activities in North Coast waters and prevent drowning incidents, the headquarters cooperates with associated units to conduct tourism safety promotions at elementary and junior high schools, which discussed rip currents and sea safety at schools in Sanzhi, Shimen, Jinshan and Wanli districts. This promoted sea safety knowledge, increased local participation, reduced the frequency of water recreation activity related accidents and created a safer tourism environment.
