The Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters (Matsu Headquarters), under the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, successfully concluded its "2026 Matsu Headquarters Tour Guide Training Course" today (13th) in Nangan. The 3-day training program comprised two days of comprehensive indoor theoretical lectures and a final day of practical field exercises. All 50 participating trainees expressed strong interest in joining the Matsu Headquarters volunteer team, demonstrating exceptional enthusiasm throughout the sessions. The Matsu Headquarters looks forward to introducing this passionate new cohort to deliver warmer, more personalized guided experiences to visitors exploring Matsu.

The 3-day program adopted a progressive, practical teaching approach. On the first day, instructor Lin Ai-lan led a session on travel safety and risk management, enhancing trainees' group leadership and emergency handling capabilities. Instructor Lin Shao-chieh presented on interpretation principles and practical techniques, guiding trainees to master expression and storytelling methods. The second day focused on building deep local knowledge: instructor Liu Ying-san analyzed the concepts of the Matsu Geopark and landscape conservation; instructor Wang Chien-hua introduced natural ecology and culinary culture; and instructor Yu Kuei-hsiang untangled the threads of Mindong culture, literature, and military heritage, helping trainees translate local elements into rich narrative material.

On the third day, trainees visited key scenic spots on Nangan for field simulation exercises. Under the on-site guidance and real-time feedback of instructors Kuo Pao-tsai and Wang Yung-pao, trainees conducted scenario-based simulated tours to refine their delivery rhythm and situational adaptability. Participants noted that the three days of combined theoretical and practical training not only deepened their understanding of Matsu’s cultural context, but also equipped them with systematic, warm, and engaging interpretation skills. They expressed great enthusiasm to join as active volunteers and share the multifaceted charm of Matsu with more travelers.

Hong Chih-kuang, Director of the Matsu Headquarters, stated that tour guides and volunteer partners serve as an essential foundation for promoting local tourism and act as the primary bridge for visitors to deeply connect with Matsu. Through this training program, the headquarters not only bridges learning and practical application, but also effectively strengthens local identity and service passion. Moving forward, the Matsu Headquarters will continue to refine its volunteer cultivation mechanisms to help trainees seamlessly transition into volunteer roles, while continuously enhancing local interpretation capabilities through diverse training programs to elevate tourism service quality and power the sustainable development of Matsu tourism.
