"2024 Matsu Glimmer Series Activities," organized by Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarter under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications aim to promote Matsu's diverse and rich tourism appeal. By linking the four townships and five islands of Matsu, the events combine battlefield scenery, Min Dong customs, religious culture, and ecological landscapes into a comprehensive tourism plan. On June 13, a promotional press conference was held at the Tourism Bureau's Tourism Service Center, attended by Deputy Director Lin Hsin-Jen of the Tourism Bureau, Director Huang Shih-Fang of the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration, Leader Yang Yao-Chih of the Matsu Tourism Circle Industry Alliance, Deputy General Manager Chen Yung-Yu of Uni Air, Chairman Chou Yun-Sheng of Ezfly International Travel Agency, General Manager Chou Chao-Lin of Caimeng, and Director Huang Kai-Yang of the Matsu Geopark Association, among other distinguished guests. At the event, under the guidance of professional bartenders, specially crafted luminous cocktails were served, with the faintly glowing blue light in the glasses seemingly inviting everyone to embark on a lightly tipsy journey to explore the beauty of Matsu.

The Matsu Light Generation Unveiled
Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarter stated that the Matsu Light Generation has already begun. The first light, "Buddha's Light," was illuminated during the Matsu Goddess Worship Ceremony held in April and May. The second light is the "Scenic Light," showcased through three travel exhibitions in Taiwan, aimed at presenting Matsu's beauty to travelers from various regions. In July, the main event kicks off with the enhanced Young Musicians Island Carnival, expanding from young musicians performances last year in Matsu to weekly performances, known as "Underwater Light." For the younger generation, the popular real-life puzzle-solving and summer exploration online game offers participants a chance to win round-trip tickets between Taiwan and Matsu, dubbed "Youthful Light." This year's most anticipated event is the "Magical Light" concert series, themed around light intoxication. Finally, in October, the laser tag survival game, "Radiant Light," will allow participants to experience Matsu's unique battlefield atmosphere, guiding the public into a brand new Matsu Glimmer Journey.
Weekly Performances: Matsu is Particularly Young This Summer
Young Musicians Island Carnival is expanding to feature weekly performances in this year! From July to August, performances will take place every week across the four townships and five islands of Matsu. This initiative encourages students to bring their instruments and embark on a musical journey to Matsu. This year, the event will feature special guest performers from the Music Department of National Taiwan Normal University, the Music Department of National Taiwan University of Arts, and the Performing Arts and Film Group of Lee-Ming Institute of Technology. Regular performances will be held every Saturday primarily in Beigan and every Sunday in Nangan. From Monday to Friday, performances are not restricted to specific locations, allowing visitors to enjoy music in various venues such as Matsu's bunkers, lighthouses, restaurants, bars, airports, and even piers. This summer, Matsu will be brimming with youthful energy and vitality. Welcome to join in and experience the youthful spirit of Matsu!
Starry Night Concerts: Not Just Glimmering, But Lightly Tipsy Too
The splendor of Matsu goes beyond the Blue Tears; it also includes the starry skies, moonlight, and old wine. Matsu’s old wine, known for its pure quality, is a gift reserved for the most important people. This year's eagerly anticipated Matsu Glimmer Concert series will feature a lightly tipsy theme. On July 19, the concerts will kick off at the scenic terrace next to the Nangan Visitor Center with a jazz duo performance by Yaoli Shishi. Following this, award-winning singer Showlen Maya, known for her unique R&B vocals and innovative interpretations of Taiwanese songs, and Taiwan's most renowned Latin jazz orchestra, Taiwan Latin Beats will take the stage. On September 6, the concerts will move to Mabi Bay Coastal Park in Beigan. The evening will begin with a performance by renowned violinist Connie May, whose music will inspire a tipsy reverie. This will be followed by the gold-medal-winning a cappella group, Just Vocal Band. The finale will feature the incomparable Wu Shuang Orchestra, known for their fusion of classical and contemporary music to showcase cross-genre Chinese orchestral music. In addition to the concerts, there will be a Glimmer Market, stargazing tours, and complimentary experiences including special luminous cocktails, old wine coffee, and old wine waffles. Real-Life Puzzle-Solving: You Can Even Win Plane Tickets and an iPhone!
Currently popular among young people, this online and offline integration connects the four townships and five islands of Matsu. From July to September, tourists visiting various islands of Matsu can use their smartphones to participate in specially designed puzzle-solving challenges based on each island's unique characteristics. Participants who solve these puzzles successfully will have the opportunity to obtain fashionable wooden bottle openers limited to each island of Nangan, Beigan, Juguang, and Dongyin. Moreover, participants who accumulate puzzle-solving points can enter a draw to win round-trip tickets between Taiwan and Matsu, as well as an iPhone. The earlier you complete the puzzles, the higher your chances of winning these prizes.

On October 5and 6, there will be a thrilling two-day event combining entertainment and military experiences called "Laser Tag Survival Game.
