The Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters, under the Tourism Administration, held a “Beigan Area Sustainable Tourism Development Construction Forum” this morning (16th) at the Beigan Township Office to strengthen communication and consensus with the local community.
The meeting was chaired by Director Hong Zhiguang, and attendees included representatives from Legislator Chen Hsueh-sheng’s office, Lienchiang County Councilor Chou Jui-kuo, Director Chen Ju-lan of the Lienchiang County Department of Transportation and Tourism, Beigan Township Mayor Wu Chin-ping, Chair Lin Chia-you of the Beigan Township Representatives Council, as well as representatives Wang Chang-yuan, Wang Kuan-yu, and Chan Ting-yu. Together, they engaged in in-depth discussions on tourism infrastructure development and a sustainable development blueprint for the Beigan area.
This forum focused on three core themes: “a review of the Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters’s recent investments in construction projects in the Beigan area,” “an introduction to the Sustainable Tourism Destination Flagship Project 2.0,” and “responses to proposals and suggestions from the local community.”
During the meeting, the Matsu Headquarters provided a detailed briefing on tourism infrastructure investments made in the Beigan recreational system over the past three years, with a total capital investment of nearly NT$170 million. This demonstrates the strong commitment to Beigan’s development. Through the project briefing, the administration also conveyed its direction of precisely allocating resources toward improving tour guidance quality, optimizing pedestrian and traffic flow, and
enhancing basic infrastructure within scenic areas.
Director Hong Zhiguang of the Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters stated that Beigan possesses rich military heritage and natural landscapes, making it a key hub in promoting the “Slow Travel Matsu Resort Island Chain” initiative.
In the future, the Headquarters will continue to utilize smart systems and digital
governance approaches to transform existing attractions from static displays into
immersive experience sites. Through spatial atmosphere design, it aims to create
distinctive scenic highlights, precisely aligning with both visitor needs and local
expectations.
In response to local concerns regarding resource integration, the Matsu National
Scenic Area Headquarters stated that it will uphold the principle of “integrating
management and utilization,” continue implementing “local, nearby management,” and actively seek central government funding for environmental improvement
projects once all relevant procedures are completed.
Looking ahead, the Headquarters will further strengthen cross-sector integration,
promote tourism transformation through sustainable strategies and creative marketing, and achieve the goal of balancing ecological conservation with local economic development
