To echo the executive Yuan’s ‘Salute to the sea” policy, promote environmental awareness, and Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters will host a meaningful event titled “Beach Cleanup & Sand Art” at Mabi Bay, Beigan Township. The event combines a coastal cleanup with a flash sand sculpture session, blending environmental action and artistic creativity. Visitor and local resident are invited to step onto the beach, join the cleanup, and participate in hands-on sand sculpting experiencing both beauty and creativity while actively protecting the marine environment. This collaborative effort aims to breathes sustainability and hope into the Matsu coastline.
Internationally renowned sand artist Fang-Chih-Ta will visit Matsu for the first time to conduct a live flash sand art performance, with over a decade of global experience in sand sculpture and a deep commitment to art education, Mr. fang will create a piece inspired by Matsu’s unique local culture. He will also guide participants of all ages, allowing them to experience the charm of art directly. In an inventive twist, participants will be encouraged to incorporate marine debris collected during the cleanup into their sand sculptures, transforming what was once waste into vibrant works of art, and subtly conveying the importance of marine conservation.
Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters Director Hung Chih-Kuang emphasized that while Matsu boasts spectacular coastlines and rich marine ecosystem, it also faces the growing challenge of marine debris. By combining cleanup efforts with creative expression, the event hopes to inspire public engagement with ocean conservation and deepen understanding of environmental sustainability.
