Radiation Survival Game: Innovative Gameplay in Battlefield Tunnels

Date:113-10-30 Hits:38

Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications is promoting the diverse and rich tourism appeal of Matsu through the "2024 Matsu Glimmer Series of Events."  Running from July to October, this series connects four townships and five islands, showcasing battlefield scenery, Eastern Fujian customs, religious culture, and ecological landscapes, which has garnered significant attention and response from tourists.  Among these events, the "Radiation Survival Game" kicked off on October 25, lasting for two days and attracting over a hundred tourists and local residents to form teams and experience the thrill of survival games.

The event was held at the "Dahan Stronghold" in Nangan.  This stronghold features a rare three-level tunnel system, with the top level serving as the command center, the second level housing living quarters and a preparatory machine gun position, and the lowest level containing four 90mm artillery positions, a briefing room, and a Zhongshan room. After renovations by the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration, the site has been enhanced with lighting and wider walkways, creating a spacious atmosphere without a sense of oppression. The view from the artillery positions at the end of the walkway is exceptional.

The Radiation Survival Game replaces traditional paintballs and BB pellets with infrared sensors, significantly reducing pain and enhancing safety. Utilizing technology along with sound and light effects, it creates a unique sporting experience set in the military-themed Dahan Stronghold, allowing participants to immerse themselves in thrilling combat scenarios.  Over the two-day event, 114 participants joined in, ranging from the youngest at just 5 years old to the oldest at 52, showcasing the activity's appeal across various age groups!

Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters stated that the sights in Matsu are filled with authentic battlefield landscapes, such as bunkers, camps, and tunnels.  In addition to revitalizing and repurposing these underused spaces into tourist attractions, this year they have collaborated with major travel agencies like SET tour, ezfly, and Lion Travel to launch a themed tour that combines entertainment with military experiences through the Radiation Survival Game.  This initiative aims to attract fans of immersive games and provide them with a unique experience of Matsu's charm.
