East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area

The East Longitudinal Valley National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Administration, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, (hereinafter referred to as the Valley Administration) is hosting the 2024 East Longitudinal Valley Festival: Tribal Food Paradise under the theme of "Healing." The event will be launched at Luoshan Visitor Center in Fuli Township, Hualien County at 3pm on August 24 and 25. The two-day event includes nearly 30 tribal cultural experiences, 45 selected market stalls, multiple musical performances on the valley stage, and the outdoor picnic feast that has received rave reviews. To encourage visitors to actively participate and stay overnight in the area, by presenting proof of accommodation in the Hualien-Taitung area on August 23-24 at the event help desk, you will receive a 200NTD cash-equivalent voucher (limited quantity of 200 per day). The experience ticket packages will go on sale online on Thursday July 11. This year's East Longitudinal Valley Festival: Tribal Food Paradise invited artists Akibo, Cudjuy Maljugau, and Yu Yu Art Studio to collaborate on designing the overall visual concept for the venue with "healing" as the main theme and "seeds" as the inspiration. It is hoped that this summer, visitors can become little seeds, forget about the fatigue and troubles by participating in various experiential activities, and release the tension and depression accumulated in their body and mind. Through this healing journey, they can once again find all the strength they need for the future.

There are five themed areas at the event. First, enter the "Mountain Hunting Ground" to learn hunter skills such as archery, spear throwing, and slingshot making. Rely on natural resources, coexist with nature, and feel the sense of security from being supported by the earth. Next, enter the "House of Aesthetics" to appreciate the handcrafts that are packed with blessings from the makers. Collect your thoughts in the process of making wreaths, making rakar (fish trap) night lamps, and tapping bark to make bookmarks. Enjoy the healing brought by working with plants. Next, visit "Mumu Kitchen" to taste Truku banana rice and tribal-style stone hot pot. Let the natural ingredients replenish your energy, relieve fatigue, and strengthen your body's defenses. The well-received "Outdoor Picnic Feast" will be held in the rice fields. This year, Guyana Workroom, Akay Playlife, Tafalong Katepaay, and Liay have been invited to participate in the event. By enjoying tribal feasts with diverse flavors, you can satisfy your taste buds and enrich your soul. At the "Valley Stage," Bunun children from Haiduan Township of Taitung, the Wulu Elementary School Choir, will sing a chorus of songs. The electronic music group, ufa, will also perform their music incorporating ancient Amis tunes, guiding visitors into an immersive musical experience. The finale of the two days will each be given by Matzka and Sangpuy, whose singing and dancing will soothe the hearts of people and the spirit of all things. In addition to the above areas, the "Select Outdoor Market" is where indigenous shops with distinctive characteristics from the Valley will gather, conveying the unique culture and story of local tribes. Finally, scheduled guided tours will be offered this year to allow visitors to gain in-depth understanding of the East Longitudinal Valley Festival brand and the Tribal Food Paradise event.

The East Longitudinal Valley Festival: Tribal Food Paradise two-day event will open for online ticket purchase on Thursday July 11. A variety of discounts and early bird offers are available: The early-bird price for Day Pass Combo is NT$850 with which you can choose any three tribal experiences on a single day. The Set Menu for One package is NT$350, including a choice from the two event-limited meals: SERA Coffee's Amis cuisine and Bamabooart's Truku cuisine, plus a special drink from Huazi. Outdoor Picnic Feast general tickets to the four sessions of tribal feast are NT$800-1,200. In addition, those who purchase Day Pass Combo or even-numbered Set Menu for One packages during the early-bird period (July 11-31) will receive a limited-edition camping light (valued at NT$500). The 2024 exclusive "Healing Pass" priced at NT$1,480 includes the choice of any 3 experiences during the two-day event with priority seating reservation, one Set Menu for One, and a limited-edition camping light! Finally, on the opening day of Saturday August 24, the first 50 visitors to enter will receive handmade flower bracelets with blessings (while supplies last).
