To mark World Bicycle Day on June 3, the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC held the “Railway Ride” group cycling event on June 7, drawing cycling enthusiasts from across Taiwan to Ershui, Changhua, for a ride through the mountain towns along the Jiji Branch Line.
As morning sunlight fell over the Jiji Branch Line tracks, the group set off at an easy pace from Heart of the Water Sports Park and continued along the Green Tunnel, praised as “Taiwan’s most beautiful railway green corridor.”
International travel trends are increasingly moving toward low-carbon, in-depth, and experiential tourism. The event encouraged the public to slow down while echoing the spirit of sustainable mobility promoted by the United Nations through World Bicycle Day.
The Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC said the route not only combined railway culture with cycling tourism, but also connected Taiwan Railways’ Jiji Branch Line with public transportation systems such as the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle, encouraging visitors to explore local communities by low-carbon means.
