In concert with policy promotion, the Tourism Administration, MOTC, designated March 17-23 "Tourism Safety Promotion Week" this year as it does the third week of March each year. The Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters conducts water recreation activity related safety education and promotions for teachers and students at coastal campuses within its jurisdiction in order to boost tourism safety, in the hope tourism safety knowledge will become more widely known.
Starting from the 13th, the Headquarters hired Mr. Yin Decheng, an international 4-star diving instructor, as a lecturer, and launched 10 promotional events for teachers and students at Dali, Daxi, Hemei, Bitou and Gongguan elementary schools. In addition to learning basic life-saving skills such as floating on one's back, using life buoys, rescue throw bags and rescue tubes, introducing marine life, and educating children and teachers to only use stores that have legal water recreation activity business registration and insurance when conducting water recreation activities.
In order to improve the safety of water recreation activities, the Headquarters has worked long-term with the NCKU Research & Development Foundation to develop and build a sea and meteorological information station. Visitors can use their smartphones to quickly access the latest weather information through a QR-code link; joint inspections of safety drills are carried out annually before water operations are permitted, and qualified stores are be announced to help tourists make inquiries.
