In conjunction with the Tourism Bureau’s promotion of “Tourism Safety Awareness Week” in the third week of March, the Administration today (3/15) hosted “Taiwan Community and Tourism Safety Seminars," a series of courses on water recreation activities, hotel safety etc., in conjunction with New Taipei City B&B Association. A total of 60 hotel and tourism operators from the northeast coast were invited to participate. It is hoped government agencies, hotels, and the tourism industry will work together to create a safe travel environment so visitors to the northeast can "have a happy tour and safely return home."
The Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area has magnificent mountain and sea vistas and coastal scenery intertwined with reef rocks. It attracts many tourists every keen to enjoy sightseeing experiences such as walking trails, slow bicycle tours, and water recreation activities. Sea-view accommodation is a popular choice. To allow tourists to travel safely and at ease, this year the Administration worked with the New Taipei City B&B Association to organize a series of tourism safety seminars, including courses on water recreation activities, hotel safety etc. so local hotel and tourism industry operators better understand the safety measures required for water recreation activities, hotel and tourist services and the environment. Hoteliers were also provided with carbon monoxide detectors that day. In addition to improving the quality of tourism services, the aim is also to provide correct information to tourists through the assistance and promotional work of hoteliers, to ensure they better understand safe tourism, thereby boosting tourism safety through the joint efforts of the government, hotels and the tourism industry.
Scenic Area Administration Director Ma Whei-Da says "safety" has always been a core tourism focus and remains an important foundation for post-pandemic travel. In addition to actively creating a safe tourism environment, the Administration also continues to promote and strengthen tourism safety and improve the safety management of tourism operators. It is hoped that administration staff and industry partners on the northeast coast will work together to promote tourism safety so visitors feel at ease and can safely experience the beautiful scenery of northeast coast.
New Taipei City B&B Association Chairman Lu Renfeng says that the hotel industry has always played an important role in local tourism with the community and operation of hotel accommodation requiring continuous learning and improvement, and safety of particularly importance. The Administration continues to promote tourism safety, help tourism operators prepare for post-pandemic tourism and jointly create a friendly and safe living and tourism environment for future international visitors.
In conjunction with "Tourism Safety Awareness Week," the Administration further focused on the safety of water recreation activities. In addition to advising the public to go to areas with qualified lifeguards and related safety measures through the Friends of Northeast Coast, it also held 10 campus publicity sessions at coastal schools and discussions with operators on water recreation activities and safety practices. In addition to disseminating information on water safety through campus education activities, efforts have also been made to strengthen the legal registration, insurance provision and safety of water management operators, with the names of qualified operators published on the official website. The Administration has also worked for many years with the Central Weather Bureau and the Coastal Ocean Monitoring Center at National Cheng Kung University to establish a marine meteorological information station. A QR-code link to the sea and meteorological information website is available on the notice board and once scanned with a mobile phone provides visitors with the latest marine meteorological information. The public is reminded to keep up-to-date with the latest sea and meteorological information when engaging in water recreation activities. Safety first must be always kept in mind so everyone can "Have a happy journey and safely return home."
