Green Sustainability-cross-regional cooperation in tree planting on the Northeast coast to create a green, sustainable and safe tourism environment

Starting on March 11, the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC (hereinafter referred to as the Northeast Coast Headquarters) and the Yilan Branch, Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, MOA (hereinafter referred to as the Yilan Branch, Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency) collaborated with "Great Northeast Tourism Union" partners in holding a cross-region series of tree planting and tourism safety week publicity activities to create a green, sustainable and safe tourism environment.

The third week of March every year is Tourism Safety Promotion Week. The Northeast Coast Headquarters cooperated with the New Taipei City B&B Association and the Taiwan Outdoor Climbers' Coalition to hold a series of "Have a Happy Trip and Safe Return" tourism safety promotional events, inviting associated government units, Great Northeast Tourism Union operators and people from the local community to participate. In order to improve the tourism safety focus of tourism industry operators, the Headquarters invited related experts such as the Fire Department of New Taipei City Government and coaches from the North District Committee of the Taiwan Mountain Rescue Association to hold events on March 13, 15 and 16: including three publicity and recreation safety lectures on mountain areas, water areas and rock climbing, in order to ensure partners and tourists in the "Great Northeast Tourism Union" better understand basic safety and first aid information when engaging in outdoor recreation activities, in order to jointly create a safe tourism environment.

On March 16 (Saturday), the Northeast Coast Headquarters cooperated with the Yilan Branch, Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency to organize a tree planting and seedlings donation event in Yongan Community, Shiding. The Headquarters has cooperated with the Yilan Branch on various events, including: collaborating with the Taiwan Thousand Miles Trail Association on " Recreate the Danlan Centenary Mountain Trail cross-county and city platform of Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung City and Yilan County," gradually implementing the Danlan Centennial Mountain Trail route through cross-unit coordination and cooperation. The Headquarters established the "Great Northeast Tourism Union" in 2020, covering the seven districts of New Taipei City and 12 townships in Yilan County. The tree planting activity was held in the Shiding District of New Taipei City. With the "2023 Greater Northeast Tourism Union Industry Highlights Improvement Execution Plan," the Headquarters cooperated with the New Taipei City Shiding District Tourism Development Association, providing financial support to the association to handle the "Danding safety/disaster relief -praying for blessings trip" and "Product development of disaster relief charms"; in addition, from 2021 to 2023, the Headquarters assisted three operators in Shiding District to carry out highlight renovations in tourism union-related projects. Including Shiding District Tourism Development Association, Shiding Hsu's Handmade Noodles Co., Chaxiang Osmanthus Farm etc.

You Liyu, director of the Tourism Department of the Northeast Coast Headquarters, said the Northeast Coast is ecologically rich and has many unique local native species that are important landscape and ecological resources. In order to protect this flora and fauna and address environmental issues, the Headquarters will continue to promote sustainable tourism; and "safety" has always been a core aspect of tourism. The Headquarters will organize a variety of outdoor safety promotion activities this year and hopes all visitors will be safety conscious when engaging in outdoor activities and enjoying the beautiful mountains and sea on the northeast coast.
