In response to the 0403 Hualien earthquake, in order to boost the recovery of tourism in Eastern Taiwan, the Tourism Administration, MOTC, has introduced the “Taiwan PASS-Taiwan Railway Edition and Hualien Revitalization Plan,” which includes a combined Taiwan Railway 5-day pass, MRT and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle package. In addition, two people traveling together can buy two tickets for the price of one from July 1 to September 30, 2024, in an effort to encourage tourists to visit eastern Taiwan and travel around the whole country, boosting the development of the tourism industry
“Taiwan PASS-Taiwan Railway Edition” is an electronic ticket that integrates Taiwan Railway, MRT and Taiwan Express shuttle services, including “Taiwan Railway 5-day Pass” and "MRT (Taipei Fun Pass) 2-day Pass,” Taoyuan Metro round-trip ticket, Taichung Mass Rapid Transit 48-hour ticket or Kaohsiung Rapid Transit 2-day ticket, choose 1 from 4.” Also included is the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle service - Chingjing Line, Sun Moon Lake Line, Alishan Line or Kenting Express Line round-trip ticket, choose 1 from 4. The package price is NT$2,800 and can be purchased by Taiwan and foreign nationals. This limited plan was launched in response to the Hualien earthquake, and visitors can enjoy the discount of 2 persons traveling for the price of one. However, when redeeming the Taiwan Railway 5-day pass for the first time, the journey must include the section between “Yilan Toucheng-Taitung Dawu.”
The Tourism Administration has said that the “Taiwan PASS-High Speed Rail Edition” was launched on January 1, 2024 to attract more international tourists to Taiwan and encourage independent travelers to visit central and southern areas. It is currently available on 6 electronic commerce platforms including KLOOK. In addition, in order to expand and meet the travel needs of tourists traveling around the island, “Taiwan PASS-Taiwan Railway Edition” is being introduced in response to the 0403 Hualien earthquake. This time, the offer of 2 persons traveling for the price of one, limited quantity “Taiwan PASS-Taiwan Railway Edition (Hualien Revitalization Plan),” is offered for a limited period (7/1~9/30) and limited area (must include Yilan, Hualien and Taitung areas). The original price is NT$5,600 for 2 people, offered for NT$2,800. The Tourism Administration also reminds the public that “Taiwan PASS-Taiwan Railway Edition (Hualien Revitalization Plan)” can only be purchased at designated channels (Klook and Lion Travel Service Co., Ltd. websites). The offer is activated by downloading the Taiwan PASS App and entering the redemption serial number. “Taiwan Railway 5-Day Pass” can be redeemed at 18 designated Taiwan Railway stations (Taitung, Hualien, Luodong, Yilan, Nangang, Songshan, Taipei, Banqiao, Taoyuan, Zhongli, Hsinchu, Taichung, Xinwuri, Chiayi , Tainan, Xinzuoying, Kaohsiung, Fangliao), and the first journey must include the section between “Yilan Toucheng - Taitung Dawu” on the Taiwan Railway Eastern Trunk line, with the journey completed on or before November 30, 2024. The train models included in the package are Model 3000 Tze-Chiang Limited Express, Tze-Chiang Limited Express (Puyuma), Tze-Chiang Limited Express (Tarko), Tze-Chiang Limited Express, Chu-Kuang Express and fast local trains. However, other than the Tze-Chiang Limited Express, Chu-Kuang Express and fast local train, on all other models seats must be booked and confirmed before the journey.
