To promote 12 high-quality cycling routes in Dapeng Bay and Pingtung, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Headquarters has integrated its annual cycling events into the “Dapeng Bay Cycling 3+1” series. Combining ecological guided rides, guided tours with hands-on activities, and self-guided digital certification, the events invite cycling enthusiasts from across Taiwan to explore Pingtung’s mountains, coastlines, and local culture at a relaxed pace—and ride their own “Dapeng Bay WAY.”
Two Themed Routes to Meet Different Cycling Needs
Ecological Guided Ride (October 3–4; approximately 20 km): Ideal for families and leisurely cyclists. The route takes participants through the wetland ecosystem on the eastern side of the bay, where they can enjoy a DIY experience making shredded cod fish strips. The itinerary also includes visits to the Donglong Temple and Pingtung King Boat Museum. In the evening, participants can enjoy the sea breeze and nighttime scenery of southern Taiwan at Qingzhou Village.
Around-the-Bay Ride (October 25; approximately 65 km): Designed for cyclists seeking a medium- to long-distance challenge and a deeper exploration of the Pingtung Plain. Participants may choose between a self-guided ride and a guided ride. Those joining the guided ride can enjoy local specialties including traditional rice soup and pineapple iced tea.
To promote sustainable tourism, the events fully embrace the principle of waste reduction at the source. No disposable paper cups will be provided on site; only free water refill services will be offered, encouraging participants to bring their own reusable water bottles. The events also create strong connections with local industries, transforming visitor participation into economic opportunities for local communities and fostering a low-carbon, mutually beneficial model of tourism.
