Dapeng Bay Protects the Ocean: “Recycled Glass Bottles Transformed into Trophies”

Date:115-04-28 Hits:4

In support of the national “net-zero emissions” policy, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Headquarters has combined craftsmanship with sustainability by transforming discarded glass bottles into exquisite trophies that can also function as vases. This initiative embodies the principles of a circular economy and makes green event practices a reality.

Unlike standardized, mass-produced trophies, these recycled bear bottles are hand-cut, sanded, and polished to create pieces that also serve as functional floral vessels. These trophies not only demonstrate the possibilities of material regeneration, but also inspire award recipients with a deeper sense of care for the ocean.

This year’s event is held in collaboration with the Center for Sport Business and Policy[u1]  at National Tsing Hua University. In accordance with ISO 14067 standards, a “carbon footprint guidance project” has been implemented. The adoption of remanufactured trophies made from recycled glass reflects recommendations from the previous year’s project; that is, in addition to prioritizing recycled materials, the event also reduces carbon emissions through minimized packaging. As a result, the “2026 Dapeng Bay Cup National Sailing Championship” is not only a sports tourism event, but also an action toward protecting the ocean.
