The annual Taixing Eastern Cattle Egret Season is around the corner! Each year, during the "White Dew" season (early autumn), Taixing welcomes thousands of eastern cattle egrets (Bubulcus coromandus) as they migrate from the north to the south. The spectacle of egrets flying in groups and gracefully hovering in the wind above valleys creates a unique ecological scene known as "Thousands of Egrets Paying Homage to the Phoenix". This extraordinary phenomenon, exclusive to Taixing in Taiwan, attracts numerous scenery and photography enthusiasts each year.
To promote experiential tourism in Alishan, the Alishan National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration Bureau, MOTC, collaborated with the Chiayi County Meishan Village Taixing Community Development Association, Renshou Community Development Association, and Chiayi County Meishan Village Longyan Community Development Association to jointly organize "Enchanting Egret Ballet: A Tranquil Journey through Taixing". This event is designed to explore the unique ecological scene of "Thousands of Egrets Paying Homage to the Phoenix", offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture and distinctive industries for a more enriching experience.
In 2023, the event offers two one-day autumn tours with distinct itineraries, available on September 9-10, September 16-17, and September 23-24, respectively. People are invited to join this tour to get close to nature; relish the splendid scenery of eastern cattle egrets freely flying in valleys of overlapping and towering mountains; explore attractions like the Taixing Waterfall, Liyuanliao Station, and Taixing Temple; and savor the coffee of high-mountain manors in Alishan, delving into the local culture and landscapes.
The Director expressed that this series of tours not only offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the region's natural wonders but also, by integrating resources from local communities, guides visitors to enjoy the natural atmosphere, savor local delicacies, and experience local warmth and hospitality. It is hoped that, through the guidance of this activity, Alishan will showcase its diverse tourism patterns and further build a sustainable and prosperous tourism industry and environment.
