VISITOR STATISTICS FOR JULY, 2011
I. A total of 465,656 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in July, 2011, up 37,893 or 8.86% from the 427,763 in July of last year. The arrivals included 264,861 foreign visitors and 200,795 Overseas Chinese. Compared with July of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 30,362 or 12.95%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 7,531 or 3.9%. Daily arrivals in July averaged 15,021.

II. Main markets by residence in July, 2011:
1. Japan accounted for 94,009 or 20.52% of the total, up 19.85%, consisting of 93,855 foreign visitors, up 19.95%, and 154 Overseas Chinese, down 21.03%.
2. Hong Kong and Macao, 73,782 or 16.11%, up 1.54%, consisting of 8,874 foreign visitors, up 1.23%, and 64,908 Overseas Chinese, up 1.58%.
3. U.S.A., 36,029 or 7.86%, up 3.01%, consisting of 35,515 foreign visitors, up 2.92%, and 514 Overseas Chinese, up 9.13%.
4. Southeast Asia, 70,977 or 15.49%, up 24.13%, consisting of 70,294 foreign visitors, up 24.75%, and 683 Overseas Chinese, down 17.51%.
5. Australia and New Zealand, 5,219 or 1.14%, down 2.63%, consisting of 5,192 foreign visitors, down 2.75%, and 27 Overseas Chinese, up 28.57%.
6. Europe, 17,667 or 3.86%, up 11.32%,consisting of 17,539 foreign visitors, up 12.03%, and 128 Overseas Chinese, down 40.47%.
7. Korea, 17,752 or 3.87%, up 3.38%, consisting of 17,417 foreign visitors, up 3.35%, and 335 Overseas Chinese, up 4.69%.
8. Other countries or regions accounted for 150,221 or 32.26%, up 2.82%, consisting of 16,175 foreign visitors, down 13.88%, and 134,046 Overseas Chinese, up 5.29%.

III. Main markets by country of nationality in July, 2011:
1. Japan accounted for 94,358 or 20.60% of the total. This was up 15,508 or 19.67% form the number 78,850 in the same month last year.
2. U.S.A., 37,576 or 8.2%, up 290 or 0.78%.
3. Southeast Asia, 70,944 or 15.49%, up 12,214 or 20.8%.
4. Australia and New Zealand, 6,619 or 1.44%, down 64 or -0.96%.
5. Europe, 23,156 or 5.05%, up 1,326 or 6.07%. (Germany accounted for 3,703, up 150 or 4.22%, and U.K. for 6,333, up 155 or 2.51%).
6. Korea, 17,910 or 3.91%, up 320 or 1.82%.
7. Other nationals accounted for 14,298 or 3.12%, up 768 or 5.68%.
8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 200,795 or 43.12%, (Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 64,908 or 32.33% of the total Overseas Chinese visitors, up 1,011 or 1.58%).

IV. Visitor arrivals distribution by mode of transport and port of entry, gender, age, purpose of visit and length of stay in July, 2011:
1. Mode of transport and port of entry: by air 440,110 or 94.51%, of whom 341,421 or 73.32% entered through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 40,398 or 8.68%, through Kaohsiung Airport; By sea, 25,546 or 5.49%, arrived at Kaohsiung, Keelung, Taichung and others.
2. Gender: 246,824 or 53.01% were males and 218,832 or 46.99% were females.
3. Age groups : under 19 years, 57,921 or 12.44%; 20-39 years, 191,768 or 41.18%; 40-59 years, 169,415 or 36.38%, 60 years and over, 46,552 or 10%.
4. Purpose of visit : Business 78,726 or 16.91%, pleasure 257,359 or 55.27%, visit relatives 45,809 or 9.84%, attending conference, 6,087 or 1.31%, study 4,634 or 1%, others 51,069 or 10.97%, unstated 21,972 or 4.72%.
5. Length of stay : Visitors who stayed for 1 night accounted for 19,283 or 4.3%, 2 nights 59,831 or 13.34%, 3 nights 79,112 or 17.64%, 4 nights 49,798 or 11.1%, 5-7 nights 131,744 or 29.37%, 8-15 nights 35,170 or 7.84%, 16-30 nights 21,325 or 4.75%, 31-60 nights 10,989 or 2.45%, 61-90 nights 4,511 or 1.01% and over 90 nights 36,754 or 8.19%. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in July was 7.53 nights.


VISITOR STATISTICS FOR JANUARY-JULY, 2011

I. A total of 3,321,225 visitors arrived in the Republic of China from January through July this year, up 161,123 or 5.1% from the 3,160,102 in the same period last year. The arrivals included 1,954,111 foreign visitors and 1,367,114 Overseas Chinese. Compared with last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 164,018 or 9.16%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors decreased by 2,895 or -0.21%.

II. Main markets by residence in the seven months of this year:
1. Japan accounted for 682,340 or 20.59% of the total, up 13.93%, consisting of 681,276 foreign visitors, up 13.94%, and 1,064 Overseas Chinese, up 5.98%.
2. Hong Kong and Macao, 456,959 or 13.79%, up 1.34%, consisting of 53,582 foreign visitors up 1.77%, and 403,377 Overseas Chinese, up 1.28%.
3. U.S.A., 239,630 or 7.23%, up 1.34%, consisting of 236,780 foreign visitors, up 1.28%, and 2,850 Overseas Chinese, up 6.26%.
4. Southeast Asia, 567,026 or 17.11%, up 16.78%, consisting of 561,409 foreign visitors, up 17.22%, and 5,617 Overseas Chinese, down 14.73%.
5. Australia and New Zealand, 39,094 or 1.18%, down 2.52% consisting of 38,824 foreign visitors, down 2.62%, and 270 Overseas Chinese, up 13.45%.
6. Europe, 121,806 or 3.68%, up 3.72%, consisting of 121,316 foreign visitors, up 3.88%, and 490 Overseas Chinese, down 23.79%.
7. Korea, 144,019 or 4.35%, up 16.13%, consisting of 142,106 foreign visitors, up 16.27%, and 1,913 Overseas Chinese, up 6.57%.
8. Other countries or regions accounted for 1,070,351 or 32.23%, down 3.29%, consisting of 118,818 foreign visitors, down 19.67%, and 951,533 Overseas Chinese, down 0.76%.

III. Main markets by country of nationality in the seven months of this year;
1. Japan accounted for 685,106 or 20.68% of the total. This was up 80,408 or 13.3% from the number 604,698 last year.
2. U.S.A., 250,788 or 7.57%, down 1,617 or -0.64%.
3. Southeast Asia, 567,988 or 17.14%, up 65,853 or 13.11%.
4. Australia and New Zealand, 47,803 or 1.44%, down 1,922 or -3.87%.
5. Europe, 159,477 or 4.81%, up 3,624 or 2.33%. (Germany accounted for 27,956, up 77 or 0.28% and U.K. for 43,319, down 1,579 or -3.52%).
6. Korea, 145,919 or 4.4%, up 18,475 or 14.5%.
7. Other national accounted for 97,030 or 2.93%, down 803 or -0.82%.
8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 1,367,114 or 41.16%, (Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 403,377 or 29.51% of the total Overseas Chinese visitors up 5,102 or 1.28%).
