VISITOR STATISTICS FOR NOVEMBER, 2011
I. A total of 619,343 visitors arrived in the Republic of China in November, 2011, up 90,345 or 17.08% from the 528,998 in November of last year. The arrivals included 349,976 foreign visitors and 269,367 Overseas Chinese. Compared with November of last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 38,060 or 12.2%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 52,285 or 24.09%. Daily arrivals in November averaged 20,645.

II. Main markets by residence in November, 2011:
1. Japan accounted for 130,538 or 21.08% of the total, up 23.69%, consisting of 130,426 foreign visitors, up 23.71%, and 112 Overseas Chinese, up 4.67%.
2. Hong Kong and Macao, 65,389 or 10.56%, up 10.08%, consisting of 8,276 foreign visitors, up 16.89%, and 57,113 Overseas Chinese, up 9.15%.
3. U.S.A., 35,468 or 5.73%, up 9.77%, consisting of 35,155 foreign visitors, up 9.84%, and 313 Overseas Chinese, up 2.96%.
4. Southeast Asia, 111,469 or 18%, up 18.79%, consisting of 110,905 foreign visitors, up 18.97%, and 564 Overseas Chinese, down 8.29%.
5. Australia and New Zealand, 6,219 or 1%, up 11.59%, consisting of 6,159 foreign visitors, up 11.94%, and 60 Overseas Chinese, down 15.49%.
6. Europe, 21,158 or 3.42%, up 14.94%,consisting of 21,118 foreign visitors, up 14.95%, and 40 Overseas Chinese, up 8.11%.
7. Korea, 20,878 or 3.37%, up 6.89%, consisting of 20,660 foreign visitors, up 6.85%, and 218 Overseas Chinese, up 11.22%.
8. Other countries or regions accounted for 228,224 or 36.84%, up 17.4%, consisting of 17,277 foreign visitors, down 44.21%, and 210,947 Overseas Chinese, up 29.08%.

III. Main markets by country of nationality in November, 2011:
1. Japan accounted for 130,873 or 21.13% of the total. This was up 20,691 or 18.78% form the number 110,182 in the same month last year.
2. U.S.A., 36,979 or 5.97%, up 946 or 2.63%.
3. Southeast Asia, 111,362 or 17.98%, up 12,366 or 12.49%.
4. Australia and New Zealand, 7,493 or 1.21%, up 521 or 7.47%.
5. Europe, 26,709 or 4.31%, up 1,722 or 6.89%. (Germany accounted for 5,111, up 519 or 11.3%, and U.K. for 6,860, up 148 or 2.21%).
6. Korea, 21,187 or 3.42%, up 652 or 3.18%.
7. Other nationals accounted for 15,373 or 2.48%, up 1,162 or 8.18%.
8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 269,367 or 43.5%, (Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 57,113 or 21.2% of the total Overseas Chinese visitors, up 4,789 or 9.15%).

IV. Visitor arrivals distribution by mode of transport and port of entry, gender, age, purpose of visit and length of stay in November, 2011:
1. Mode of transport and port of entry: by air 575,007 or 92.84%, of whom 460,000 or 74.27% entered through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, 42,026 or 6.79%, through Kaohsiung Airport; By sea, 44,336 or 7.16%, arrived at Kaohsiung, Keelung, Taichung and others.
2. Gender: 328,023 or 52.96% were males and 291,320 or 47.04% were females.
3. Age groups : under 19 years, 30,649 or 4.95%; 20-39 years, 211,401 or 34.13%; 40-59 years, 252,861 or 40.83%, 60 years and over, 124,432 or 20.09%.
4. Purpose of visit : Business 91,813 or 14.82%, pleasure 395,798 or 63.91%, visit relatives 36,424 or 5.88%, attending conference, 12,532 or 2.02%, study 2,950 or 0.48%, others 54,831 or 8.85%, unstated 24,995 or 4.04%.
5. Length of stay : Visitors who stayed for 1 night accounted for 21,571 or 3.74%, 2 nights 69,476 or 12.04%, 3 nights 105,238 or 18.23%, 4 nights 80,321 or 13.92%, 5-7 nights 210,151 or 36.41%, 8-15 nights 41,364 or 7.17%, 16-30 nights 13,985 or 2.42%, 31-60 nights 8,144 or 1.41%, 61-90 nights 5,063 or 0.88% and over 90 nights 21,894 or 3.79%. The average length of stay of visitors leaving in November was 6.52 nights.




VISITOR STATISTICS FOR JANUARY-NOVEMBER, 2011

I. A total of 5,438,890 visitors arrived in the Republic of China from January through November this year, up 402,207 or 7.99% from the 5,036,683 in the same period last year. The arrivals included 3,204,993 foreign visitors and 2,233,897 Overseas Chinese. Compared with last year, the number of foreign visitors increased by 306,687 or 10.58%, and the number of Overseas Chinese visitors increased by 95,520 or 4.47%.

II. Main markets by residence in the eleven months of this year:
1. Japan accounted for 1,165,986 or 21.44% of the total, up 19.13%, consisting of 1,164,379 foreign visitors, up 19.15%, and 1,607 Overseas Chinese, up 5.17%.
2. Hong Kong and Macao, 720,745 or 13.25%, up 1.4%, consisting of 85,278 foreign visitors up 3.47%, and 635,467 Overseas Chinese, up 1.13%.
3. U.S.A., 371,624 or 6.83%, up 3.13%, consisting of 367,542 foreign visitors, up 3.09%, and 4,082 Overseas Chinese, up 6.3%.
4. Southeast Asia, 932,857 or 17.15%, up 17.58%, consisting of 924,409 foreign visitors, up 17.97%, and 8,448 Overseas Chinese, down 13.81%.
5. Australia and New Zealand, 60,977 or 1.12%, down 2.16% consisting of 60,562 foreign visitors, down 2.21%, and 415 Overseas Chinese, up 4.8%.
6. Europe, 195,925 or 3.6%, up 3.6%, consisting of 195,251 foreign visitors, up 3.71%, and 674 Overseas Chinese, down 21.17%.
7. Korea, 222,100 or 4.08%, up 11.87%, consisting of 219,107 foreign visitors, up 11.95%, and 2,993 Overseas Chinese, up 6.4%.
8. Other countries or regions accounted for 1,768,676 or 32.53%, up 1.45%, consisting of 188,465 foreign visitors, down 25.41%, and 1,580,211 Overseas Chinese, up 6%.

III. Main markets by country of nationality in the eleven months of this year;
1. Japan accounted for 1,170,648 or 21.52% of the total. This was up 175,046 or 17.58% from the number 995,602 last year.
2. U.S.A., 388,890 or 7.15%, up 108 or 0.03%.
3. Southeast Asia, 933,689 or 17.17%, up 110,319 or 13.4%.
4. Australia and New Zealand, 74,929 or 1.38%, down 2,670 or -3.44%.
5. Europe, 256,961 or 4.72%, up 3,423 or 1.35%. (Germany accounted for 45,831, up 690 or 1.53% and U.K. for 68,152, down 3,276 or -4.59%).
6. Korea, 224,943 or 4.14%, up 20,363 or 9.95%.
7. Other national accounted for 154,933 or 2.85%, up 98 or 0.06%.
8. Overseas Chinese visitors accounted for 2,233,897 or 41.07%, (Overseas Chinese visitors from Hong Kong and Macao accounted for 635,467 or 28.45% of the total Overseas Chinese visitors up 7,101 or 1.13%).
